On my floor the trash room is clean, the laundry room is always empty and there is literally no noise or partying going on. There is however someone who likes to call the doorman when my roommate and I decide to listen to our music at a very reasonable volume which is a huge pain in the a@@ - I would prefer they knock on our door and we can find a suitable volume or at least find out when they are going on vacation so we can have a party.

Perhaps your neighbors don't feel comfortable with this so they call the doorman - this is common practice in NYC "luxury" buildings. It's part of the doorman's job to handle noise complaints.
The walls are thin in this building and what may seem reasonable to you inside your apartment might be loud and pounding into the next apartment.
If you want to get to know your neighbors, why not organize a floor party?

The walls are very thin and its a pain in MY ass every time somebody cranks their music so loud that I can't hear what's on in my own apartment. Sometimes its late and I don't feel like confronting people who have woken me up. I would like to roll over and try to go back to sleep instead of dealing with someone who doesnt have the common sense to realize that other people may not be as drunk and stupid at 4am on a Tuesday. Give me a break. You are not the center of the universe. You may not live on my floor. If not, lucky you. If so you might be the person that got so out-of-control drunk that another neighbor called the police because he thought your boyfriend was smacking you around. For your own sake grow up.
