Fair quality, OK service, and noisy

I've lived here for 2 years. The service in the building is OK. The daytime doormen are generally helpful. The others are sometimes more interested in talking amongst themselves (there are generall 2 doorman on duty) than helping residents. The other day I pulled up with a trunk full of packages and neither of the 2 attendants stopped their conversation to help me unload the car. I was also disapointed that service didn't improve after generously tipping each staffmember last season - I gave nearly $1,000 in tips and didn't get so much as a thank you from one staffmember.

There are lots of seemingly arbitrary rules. For example, the other day I stopped by the front desk to make a maintainance request and they insisted that they were unable to log a request in manually and that it had to be done via the internet - no exceptions. Also, if you ask them to unlock your door (e.g., if you locked your keys inside by mistake), they keep track of that and there is a fee if it happens more than once a year.

Other than that, the building is fine. The apartments are renovated very nicely (although the closets are smaller than those in similar buildings e.g., Windsor Court). There is a nice pool and deck on the roof, and the gym is ok. Usually you have to pay a few hundred dollars for the gym, but lately they have been including that for free (probably temporary). The building hallways are fine, although they haven't been renovated since the 90's.

Keep in mind that there is a fire station on 29th street so this building is loud. If you are a light sleeper, don't take a south or east facing unit.

The neighborhood is nice, albeit young. If you are 1-4 years out of school and want to see your former classmates out at the local bars, then you will love it. Most people in the building are in that age range, although there are certainly some small families and older professionals. The train is just a couple of blocks away. It's also unusually convenient for taxis due to the proximity to the taxi break area on 28th and Lexington.

Overall I give the building a 3
