The building is poorly constructed and management are a bunch of lying cheaters who sue/threaten to sue anyone who complains. Poor construction give you $250 monthly electric bills.

i moved into my place and discovered it without closets, a working toilet, mirrors, heat, mail deliver AND men STILL working on the place. I was told to park out back cuz management said "its ok, you're allowed when you move in" and got a $200 ticket. Managment made all these promises about the lounge and fell far short.

I complained to the management and was threatened with a lawsuit. About 50 tenants sued the crest over no heating, housing code violations and mail service and settled for 1 month free rent. Then management kept threatening them with lawsuits anytime they complained about the apartments.

Management also increased the rent 20% on some tenants to get them out. goto www.cresttenants.com or google the crest to read about the lawsuit between the crest tenants association and the crest and its manager jack berman. Its in the NY times. Don't even think about getting out of your lease cuz they'll sue you. Talk to the head of the tenants association and he'll tell you that most of the officers of the tenants association were thrown out or left immediately after their lease was up cuz of how hostile management is.

The place also has really cheap construction and garbage is frequently left in the hallways. lots of young kids party loud (thin walls) and you can smell pot smoke all over the place. The roof deck closes at sundown and the poor excuse for a gym closes very early.

At least the lounge has wifi though and the revolving door of doormen keeps fresh new faces at the front desk.

I lived in another building owned by Jack Berman. He used lawsuits with us too - even after our building was damaged 9-11 - such a jerk!

Jack @SS Berman sued the tenants association and its president (thats why the tenants association website is no longer active). Two other tenant association officers were thrown out under the threat of lawsuit. When my neighbor complained about the asbestos/911 dust (and wanted to have a health inspector come in to test) in her apartment, she was sent a shakedown letter by metro loft's management telling her to keep her mouth shut. Watch out on your lease renewal. When i left, they witheld my security deposit and only gave 1/2 of it back saying that my electric bill for that month was $1400. I contacted a lawyer but it was too expensive to sue them so i dropped it. I guarantee u 100 maiden lane is not better because I live there NOW and i like it MUCH BETTER. So YOU DONT know what you're talking about.
