I lived at The Crest for 1 year in a Studio with Home Office.
1. The management disappears after you sign your lease. Good luck getting anything from them...which includes maintenance, questions about your lease, and general complaints.
2. Any requested maintenance will take at least 2 weeks if not more. Also, there is no sign that the maintenance has been completed...so you need to check everyday to see if the work has been done. Also, be careful of what you request...they will charge you extra for some maintenance. It should ALL be included...but it's NOT.
3. The doormen let anyone in...including shady people. Also the doormen are not pleasant. They do not greet you or let you know if they are holding a package for you. But they do expect a monetary gift at Christmas...I think that they deserve nothing.
4. Valet (drycleaning and packages) closes at 9pm...I'm a banker and am never home before 9. Good luck getting your stuff. Also the staff is clueless and loses packages and clothes.
5. Walls are paper thin. I can hear people and pets 24/7. Also, I can smell smoke in my room (from my neighbor's apt). Not pleasant.
6. The building has bugs.
7. The shower and sinks clog constantly. You need to fix these yourself...maintenance will not help.
8. The gym usually has only 2/4 machines working for each type of machine. It's also always busy. Join another gym.
9. We have 3 elevators to reach the first 23 floors. For an entire year, only 2 have been working. Build in at least 10 minutes to your travel time to ensure you can make it to and from your apt in a timely manner.
10. The windows do not shut completely. We constantly have dirt/bugs in our apartment.

I have to agree with this post. In general, the staff is crummy- from management to the doormen. They are anything but helpful. Management screens calls (the lady is pretty stupid) and they transfer you from person to person... LAZY.
To add to the gym complaint -- they have been expanding the gym since January. Only now, in July, have they completed the single small room addition. Seven months to add one room with 5 machines.
As far as the elevators, the poster is correct- the third elevator never works. It took me 15 minutes to get from Fl. 4 (Laundry) to my floor one night because each time the elevator would come, it was PACKED (because the third one isn't working) so I had to keep waiting for another one.
For the kind of $$$ you pay here, it should be better. Much better.
