Let me start off by saying "I CANNOT wait to get out of here!" - really. While the Crest boasts a great living style, great ammenities, gym, common area, etc, etc, etc ... its all smokescreen. As other reviewers have mentioned, the management here definitely tricks you when you are leasing! Yes there are SOME (VERY few) pros to living here, but for the most part its not worth it. Here is why:

(1) Building Entrance: You have to enter 67 Wall through the "service door" located on dirty, gross, cockroach-filled Beaver Street. The Wall Street entrance has been closed off since I moved in (May 2008), despite the fact that they said it would be "open at the end of summer." Yes, you can enter thourgh 63 Wall & walk through the building, but I hate doing that because the doorman always gives me dirty looks or rudely asks if he can "help me with something," even though I tell him EVERY DAY that I am a resident of the 67 side.

(2) The Gym: The "state of the art new gym equipment" that management brags about is usually always broken. On any given day, about 30% of the bikes/ ellipticals/ treadmills don't work at all, and of those that do, about 80% of the TVs don't work. Also, I am not a big lifter, but for those that are, FYI the weights only go up to 50lbs.

(3)The actual apartments: Um, I'm not sure where the photos from the Crest website come from, because those definitely arent pictures of the actual units here. "Light filled" apartments''' Please. We have 2 windows in our 2BR & one of them looks at a brick wall in a dark shaft, and the other looks at nasty Beaver street and barely gets light either. I feel like I live in a Cave; you seriously can never tell the time of day inside this unit ... feels like a dungeon & is a bit clausterphobic. Aside from that, I am convinced that there is little or no insulation between units (on the same floor, and those above/ below us). Not only can I hear everything that is happening in the other units, but the amount SMOKE that gets into our apartment is ridiculous. Over the course of my lease, I have been perpetually sick (and would also probably fail a drug test if you gave it to me) because cigarette & marijuana smoke from other units is constantly coming into our apartment. I have to sleep with a huge fan on (even in the winter) but it barely helps, and you cant open the windows either. Management has not helped ...

(4) Plumbing: Its absolutely atrocious! From the day we moved into our apartment, we have been standing in a 3in pool of water every time we shower (sick!!!), although maintenance has "fixed" it. The sinks clog up a lot too (kitchen & bathroom) for no reason, and there isnt a garbage disposal on the kitchen sink so literally if ONE tiny bit of food falls in your drain you can count on it not draining at all. The toilet also likes to clog up randomly & for no reason, sometimes it clogs even when no one has used it!

(5) Elevators: Never work. It is not uncommon that only one elevator will be running for all of the 25 floors that make up 67 Wall. This is especially a problem during morning & evening "rush hours" and I've been late to work as a result of the elevators. Sometimes I take the stairs but beware if you do - they are so dusty & dirty that you'll be huffing & puffing by the time you make it out.
OK, I know that was a seemingly lot of ranting, but PLEASE consider the above before you think about moving in. You can definitely get a better apartment for a better price!

Now, I did mention a FEW pros. They are:

(1) 67 Wall doormen: Kenny & Tony are the best! Both guys are really personable and funny, and will go out of their way to help you with anything. Love them!

(2) Haru Sushi & Crumbs bakery are nearby, although Crumbs is not open on weekdays.

Hey thanks for your review it helped me out with my search. Would you mind telling me what your utilities were at a building like this? Thanks

Utils on a 2Br/1ba unit run anywhere from about $80/ month during the winter, to over $200 in the summer (crazy!). We are very frugal about shutting off lights when not in the room, turning off heat & air during the day when we are at work, etc.
