You'll be sorry if you move here

I moved into the building in July 07 and like another reviewer I can't wait to get out. Where should I start...
1) It is true that the amenities were never really completed for this building. For instance I moved into a studio thinking that I could just use the storage lockers on my floor for my extra stuff, but unfortunately the storage was never completed. The laundry facility is inadequate and on Sat thru Mondays people literally line up to use the washers and dryers.
2) the elevators are unsafe. I was stuck in an elevator for an hour one day. The elevator just stopped moving and then fell what I estimate to be a foot or two and then stopped again. The next day I was speaking to an emplotyee of the building maintainance staff who told me that the elevator needs a part, and that mgmt is aware but trying to save money. I know this is unverifiable, but seriously even when that elevator is working it rocks, shakes and creaks all the way up. On occasion I have noticed the elevator stuck on a random floor with the door half open.
3) The management blows. When I called to report being trapped in the elevtor the arrogant, rude and insensitive staff yelled at me so much that I had to hang up (and I'm a trader for christ's sake; I have thick skin). Seriously, I have written at least 3 emails to bldg management that have gone unanswered.
4) Like my fellow reviewer says, the management took the decision to close the front doors of the building without any explanation to current residents. We literally came home from work one day and there was a sign posted that we need to use the back entrance on beaver street. Not only is it unsightly, but it is a harbor for vagrants and is unsafe. Every morning when I leave for work before dawn, there is at least one half crazed maniac hanging out on the sidewalk. I know this may seem like I tall tale but I was assualted at knife point a block away. Of course that can happen anywhere and mgmt has no control over that, but I'm not trying to increase the risks of a recurrence by entering through a poorly lit back door. FYI, you won't realise this when you come for a tour of the bldg since the leasing office is on the adjoining bldg 63 wall St, and the leasing officers will take you through the adjoining common area. Of course the average person won't assume that unlike 63 wall, 67 Wall doesnt have an entrance on Wall Street. Ridiculous!
4) The noise factor. Thin walls, construction (I mean serious contsruction), single paned windows, black cars honking their horns for bankers leaving Deutsche Bank next door... I can go on and on. I will say this: I was awakened the other night at 3AM by jackhammers, the sound of my neighbors having sex (the noise was so close it sounded like they were in my bed), AND the horns of the black cars.
Please believe me, it is not worth it. You'll save maybe 10% of what comparable buildings in the city may be going for, maybe 20% compared to buildings in Chelsea, but all things considered it's not worth it. Living here has been a pure nightmare. I wish I had moved into 37 Wall St instead (better amenities, thicker walls & windows, no traffic flow in front of the building, a front door on wall street, etc).
Good luck with the rest of your apartment search.
