This is a great neighborhood. While the building has some flaws (slow elevators, spotty maintenance, drabs hallways, poor management) these things appear minor if you have rented elsewhere in Manhattan. Apartments are larger than most. It is a great place to rent if you own a dog. Perfect for families with younger children -- nearby day care, pizzeria, lots of parkland -- and a real community association which plans and organizes regular events. A place in NYC where you can get to know your neighbors. Local restaurants are improving, slowly. Supermarkets are not good, but Fresh Direct delivers to your door seven days a week.
