This is the projects of battery park. Are there positives' Of course, if you work downtown, specifically the financial district you're close to work. Its also very peaceful living on the Hudson - that is of course if you can get past the smell of dog urine and feces all around the buildings (especially by the cab stand). I also found it very pleasant to pay $300/month for electricity when I am a single occupant and rarely cook or run heat/AC. Not sure how that happens... The lobby is also pleasantly decorated in drab, depressing 70's colors with attractive mildew on the ceilings. Elevators are often not working with no ventilation and they operate at a snails pace. Then of course there is management, "Mr. Hellar" and Shawn... Let's be candid complaints/problems essentially fall on deaf ears. That could be a function of their IQ or the fact that they DO NOT CARE. There are a handful of folks that work at Gateway which are pleasant people and genuinely good human beings but given that the porter staff is union they can walk around like the gateway mafia, run by the capo di tutti capo (boss of all bosses) GALAN. At this point you're almost sold on Gateway, I would like to seal the deal... Remember this is LUXURY LIVING. Well, at least the rents are... $3,750.00 (going up $150/mo after 2Y). The only things that separate this place from COOP CITY is the price and the fact that there is a good chance you wont get stabbed or shot but it helps to have police presence every where.
