There are signs around us that claim we're living in luxury apartments. Having come from the quintessential Manhattan walk up, where having your own bathroom was a perk, it certainly did seem luxurious to me. Until, I discovered what facade renovations meant, and realized that I couldn't eat, sleep, have friends over, or do any kind of work from home.
