Lived there from June 08' - June '09 in the 500 Bldg
A brief summary:
500 Bldg does NOT have a freight elevator, BUT they sill make you reserve the "freight elevator" for moving anything in or out. When calling, make sure you are in the mood to get yelled at by the dominatrix-style receptionists in the mgt office.
The apt was a nice size with a brand new kitchen.
Day-to-day things were fine, as long as you didn't need anything.
Doormen didn't ever open the door or really acknowledge you, but they were good about holding packages.
Maintenance was terrible. Don t even bother calling.
Exterior was covered in scaffolding the whole time I was there and the asphalt & sidewalks reeked of dog urine.
Security is the real deal breaker. They just seem to make life difficult without providing any real protection/ piece of mind.
Do yourself a favor and look a block south (near Albany & South End Ave.) or better yet, look somewhere that has a little more flavor than Battery Park.

You're right all exceptg it's even worse than that.
Mantenance will rob you blind if allowed into your apt.
These complaints have been reported for years...yet no action by the authirities because of payoffs.
