This building is a complete scam. You have to pay for pretty much any "service". You are forced to use the freight elevator for absolutely everything... and then when you do use the freight elevator you have to pay 50 dollars an hour. Imagine what this will cost you alone when you move in an out of the building let alone have anything delivered to your apartment, etc. It's a nightmare.

I lived in a doorman building before living at herald towers and I can tell you that the doorman do nothing but serve as Cop. a) They are the ones that stop you and force you to pay the frieght fee or the ones that you threaten you with 2000 dollar fines if you don't b) If you forget your keys, you have to pay 20 dollars for them to let you in. c) you can not have food delivered at the front desk if you are running late from work and you can not leave anything at the front desk, like keys, for your friends without getting in a verbal argument d) they do not open the doors for you and the doors are so heavy and so difficult to open (not joking).... at least get different doors or something!

This building is so bad that the tenants complain to each other in the elevator (p.s. elevators get stuck/break all the time). I've come home to cockroaches....They need to create a Herald Towers support group - I could go on and on.

I used to work out in the Roof Top Health Club at this place when it was the fleabag McAlpin Hotel. Whatever the intent was of the Herald Towers conversion from the McAlpin Apartments, the first unsuccessful conversion of the old Hotel, the current so-called luxury rental apartments may be the worst rendition yet of the old McAlpin space. The attendants in this building, far from being helpful, would require a major uptick in demeanor just to reach surly. Awful building.

I could not agree more and am happy to leave the miserable service provided by not only the doormen but the leasing office staff as well, most directly the receptionist that could not be more unhappy or unhelpful with a permanent scowl on her face. On top of all the extra fees and regulations this building has decided to impose on its tenants, any apartment problems are barely recognized. On multiple occasions I have called for a repair man to be told that he is busy with an "emergency leak" and will not be able to come that day. I can only hope they are lying and there are not daily emergency leaks happening in other apartments. The freight elevator (with the above charges as mentioned) has been broken for a week at the end of the month when moves are happening. When inquiring about the status and imporanance of this elevator, tenants are only met with "I don't know" Good riddance Herald Towers. I will be joyously turning in my keys this week after I push through the hoards of crowds and get caught in the wind tunnel trying to open these ridiculously heavy doors to go speak with the surly doormen and receptionist.
