Another gouging

IPN has gone to submetering their apartments. This is not necessarily a bad thing except for the fact that the bills are not from ConEd but from a company called QuadLogic. These people seem to charge whatever they or the landlord feels like charging. The August bills were about $.30 per kilowatt hour, almost $.10 above what the same company charged elsewhere in Manhattan and about double ConEd's rates. It was not unusual to see $4-500 electric bills. Tenants in this complex are being gouged.
Although the tenants are not too noisy, there is constant construction going on. It is not unusual to be awakened by jackhammers and heavy machinery at 1,2 or 3 in the morning.
The garage has gone from $175 to over $400 in 3 years and continues to increase at an ever increasing pace. The street has about 15 parking spaces for the entire comunity during the day.
If you walk around the complex, it is not unusual to spot the edges of rusted beams sticking through the bricks.
If you are looking, keep on going.

I admit I was spoiled after not paying electric bills for the first 20 years my family lived here, but wow - you're dead on. The prices are ridiculous. We had a $300 electric bill in July for our 2 bdrm. We decided we needed to lower it and, taking advantage of the relatively mild summer, turned off all our air conditioners. We also shut off power strips and didnt turn on lights until dusk. The result? A $400 electric bill. What the heck?

This place is done and they can do and redo the lobbies all they want. What wasn't so shocking is they couldn't explain the high electric bills.. but we had to pay them. As some believe, we could also be paying for the electric throughout the building. The sooner me and my family find a better place to live (in or out) of NYC, we will be happier.
We all know, Gluck and mgmt. are crooks.
