Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008

Management turnover about 6 years ago had a negative affect on all services and personnel. Now, the workers all hate the management office and in turn reflect a sour mood. The office hands out punishments to workers and have them on video, constantly berating them. Every single thing they do for you is a favor, no one sees service as a duty, more of a liability if the management catches them. Theyre actually instructed to look busy so people wont dawdle at the desk. The problem is the management has allowed certain personnel to bring work habits and communication standards from job experience in the mid-island projects to a fair market building, so now it feels like a project building.
10 Years ago it was in better shape and the service was ok. But alas the years have worn the place down. The screen doors do not slide on the balconies, making for fly problems. There are no places to relax other than in your apartment. The workout room is woefully old, but beingu pdated (a 1 year process). About 10% of the laundry/dryer machines are broken regularly. All of them are over 5 years old and cost $3.00 for double load.
Overall its a big AVOID for the price. If it was cheaper (in 1997 it cost $1700 for a 2 bedroom with a balcony vs $3500 today) you might do it as a tradeoff, but its no longer good deal.

6 years ago, concierge wore mixed matched street clothing instead of conservative looking uniforms as other luxury buildings do. 6 years ago handymen slept in closets and only serviced the tenants that tipped the concierge. Perhaps the sour mood is from the staff that is required to work for their paycheck now.
The information regarding the exercise rooms is inaccurate, as all rooms have been renovated and tenants are extremely happy. The information regarding the laundry room is also inaccurate.

Sounds as if the person worked here and is no longer employed by Manhattan Park. Major chip on his shoulder! Maybe he should get on meds.
I live here and the Gym is new and things get fixed if broken in my apartment. Nobody or place is perfect pal!

I agree with this posting. I am a current tenant, and yes, everyone who works at Manhattan Park (maintenance, concierge, porters, etc.) seems to hate management. My experience with management is that they are very irritable and have an attitude. I am not used to paying this amount and having to put up with this environment. The people other than management, I feel more sympathy for, but again, I feel sometimes that I have to apologize for living there and that they are doing me a favor when in my opinion, they are doing their job. For example, when I call in maintenance, they always seem to complain about it. I think this is not maintenance's fault, but poor management. If the maintenance crew is getting paid or treated poorly, this leaks over to the tenants. They complain about poor work environment to us, and this results in poor service for paying tenants.
