NOT Worth it!

With a combination of absolutely unprofessional management office staff and over-priced rent, it just doesn't make any sense choosing the place.
Trying to communicate with the Management office's staff is an impossible feat. Your emails will be simply neglected and ignored (common sense/normal business manner anyone'). One staff is always in the 'meeting' when called, but always sitting around idly when I visit him in person out of the frustration. Not too mutch luck telling assintant to leave him a message, because I NEVER (0 times) got a call back. For a record, I wasn't being an excessively demanding, petulant tenant. Its just that no business gets done there.
Someone from my work had to take an action ceaselessly to get a security deposit back. He went directly to the office after not getting responce to any of his call/email, only to find the check sitting there ready to be handed over. No excuses/explanation for the delay and miscommunication was given. Some respect for tennants....
On top of it, apartment itself is so sub-par for a rent you would be paying. I'm not saying that rent is expensive. I'm saying that you won't get much back in return for the money.
We were paying close to $3000 for 2BR (I guess now its higher'). With the same level of rent, you can get a pad in downtown BK (Cobble hills, pk slope, etc) that's new, with better and classier kitchen and bathroom facilities, and access to restaurants, shops, bars (which are absent in the gost-town USA aka R-island). Though MP is not decrepit, there has been bare minimum effort to keep it updated. If you are commuting to midtown, Astoria offers better choice as well.
The super market there sells old products and stale produce/seafood/meat which are egregiously overpriced, totally taking an advantage of the monopoly status.
Though Island has more open space than many other places, it has this lifeless, run down, and ghetto feeling so not really a great place for a young families.
Public transportation situation is a hell. You only have 1 train line running throught the island, which is closed in annoyingly high frequency. The station is 15 minutes walk, so when manhattan bound is closed, it takes close to an hour just to get to the midtown, though it looks close in the map. Also, cab fare cost you an arms and legs, since you have to go through queens, and you often have to make a solo flight since most likely that none of your friends lives in RI.
I guess only good thing here is a view, if your room faces Manhattan. But that doesn't make up for all the annoyance that I have mentioned above. Living there simply isn't a smart choice.
