First off, I couldnt say nicer things about the place. I would never have moved had job situation forced me too.
The doormen are especially great. They know you, your friends, and help you out all the time. Never had any problems with maintenance (once the first super left and the next one took over).
Incredible view.
I didnt hear my neighbors on the floor. That said, below me there was a dog that wouldnt stop yapping. On weekends when the liners (cruise) honk, the apaartment vibrates.
The laundry had about 80% of its machines working, and the fact that its card based is so much nicer than coin.
Once you get outside the building staff though, it sucked. Teh original company they contracted to do their phones and satellite (so you could get DirecTV) was horrible. Misplaced bills, doubled bills were a common experience. The internet connection was so unreliable (even if you paid extra for the dedicated IP reliability), I had to get my own DSL.
Now lets get to apartment specifics...
The air/heating units (wall units) cover some but not all rooms. cold air drafts through them, or they are too hot. There is no medium, its high or low. they are noisy as pipes are more often banging than not. Expect a HIGH electricity bill in summer.
A lot of things advertised are simply fake. There is no special intranet, you can pay to get internet, and if you dfo go to some websites or chat rooms. But thats minor compared to this: there is no intercom to concierge. You have a phone number and they have a phone number. Simply put, you can call the number at the dfront desk, and vice versa,, but its not a special building-only number, is a normal city number. Its like saying I have a special intercom to my mother who lives out of state. No. When I learned that, I was really ticked off. That IS false advertising. (If you are on the phone, and the concierge wants to get a hold of you, they cant unless you have call waiting and you accept that call.
Would I live there again' Yes. At those rents' No.
