These other reviews are EXTREMELY exaggerated. I would guess that some of these other reviewers must be some of the most high maintenance people in existence. As for the reviewer who thinks that the neighborhood is dangerous, perhaps you should rethink city life. I've lived in the area for 2 years and have never seen any sort of problem with the area.
Yes, the elevators have been extremely poor for the past 2 months, but it is due to an elevator staff strike. Not ideal obviously, but the elevators worked perfectly fine before that and I think they will be okay afterward. Although it has the reputation of being a glorified dormitory, I have a nice married family across the hall from me and I don't believe I have one set of fresh-grad tennents on my floor. Normal apartment noise (talking, TV's) and cooking smells are noticeable from the hallway but not once inside one's own apartment. Although there is a yearly fee associated, there is a 2 floor gym with a lap pool and sundeck in the building. I agree that night desk staff is not great, but there are a few stand out employees there as well (Craig in the 205 building is not only very friendly, but also helpful and knows the name of EVERYone in the whole building). The management company has kept our rent constant the past 2 years and even replaced our kitchen floor and provided new kitchen appliances. I pay far less rent than anyone else I know in Manhattan and I would say that overall my place is roughly as good as theirs (Normandie was originally built as a luxury building). There's AC in each room, good sized bedrooms, 2 baths, and modern appliances. I have always seen a quick response from maintenance also. Yes, the 4,5,6 line stinks, but that's what you have to deal with living on the East side. At least the subway entrance is only 1 block away. I think that all in all it's a good deal considering what other buildings charge in rent.

I have lived in this building for one year. For the entire year the elevators have been MISERABLE. Both before and after this strike that is irrelevant because they weren't operatable before it. I walked down 23 flights of stairs twice last week. Luxury building? Ha.

Craig is wonderful but everything else is crazy. They are charging way too much money for what they are offering! I have to walk up and down stairs and outside the building with my laundry because the elevator never comes!

I pay 2100 for a one bedroom (have been living here since after 9/11... now the rent is being raised almost 500 dollars for a new two year lease.... thats almost 25% increase. I'm not even sure if this is legal... i suppose it must be since they surely have lawyers working for them. Legal or not, it is absolutely insane; and yet another reason why you should think long and hard before moving here. 25%!!!! unbef%$#ckinglievable.

It's kinda gross how the management company posts bogus reviews like this one.
