I must say I am glad to merely be a temporary resident. Upon first moving in, I was pretty impressed with Normandie - it's well kept up, and (most) of the staff are really great - with the exception of one morning guy in the 205 building, grrr. Most of the residents are very nice and friendly as well, mostly younger but some retirees and families. Also, the building is very dog-friendly, but in my mind that's a good thing - I have a dog. Of course there are some irresponsible dog owners, but you run into them everywhere.

I also moved in in the middle of the elevator strike so I thought that was the cause of the constantly broken elevators. However, other residents have informed me that at least one elevator is always broken, strike or no. Then at rush hours, they have people moving in and out who hijack the elevators, so there will only be one elevator for all the people coming back from work at 5pm.

I am perfectly willing to walk up a reasonable amount of stairs. However, 28 floors is not reasonable. Then there are the people who live on floor 2 who try to squeeze into insanely crowded elevators...you know who you are. When taking my dog out in the morning, it sometimes takes more than twenty minutes just to catch an elevator, which then proceeds to stop at every single floor on the way down. My poor dog's bladder is going to burst one day.

Now the elevator strike is over. None of the elevators have been fixed. Why am I not surprised'

I must say: if the rent was lower, and they fixed the elevators, this would be a decent place to live. However, they are currently asking upwards of $2600 for a 1-bedroom. You can go someplace better for that price.

I am very pleased to say I'm leaving in August. Yayyyyyy!
