The people who say they don't like it here must be spoiled brats. Either that- or crazy! I suggest you go live in another building for a while and then you will realize how good you had it at Normandie!
I have lived here for five years. I really can't believe that people are complaining about it here! Everything about the building is great!
To the people who complain about smells of other people's cooking in the hallways - YOU LIVE IN AN APARTMENT BUILDING, NOT A PRIVATE HOME. THIS IS A FACT OF LIFE! I mean, seriously, how stupid can you be to complain about something like that'!
The doormen/women are EXTREMELY nice! They always say goodmorning..etc. They know my name and tell me if they have packages for me. Also - I get packages delivered all the time and they have NEVER been lost.
To the people who complain about the 4/5/6 trains. Are you seriously claiming that the train problems are a drawback to living in Normandie' In case you have never seen a subway map, those are the only lines the MTA has on the east side! If you want to complain to the MTA, that's fine - take your whiney complaining self over to the MTA and make your complaint! But to put your complaints about that on the Normandie website just shows how insane you are! I suggest you move from the east side immediately -obviously you can't handle living in NYC's east side!
I have NEVER seen a bug in the building - EVER!! To the dope who complained about seeing a bug in Girstedes - Moron: Normandide does not own Girstedes!! And, FYI - EVERY grocery store in NYC has bugs! If you don't know that, you're even dumber then I thought.
The gym is wonderful. There are never lines for any of the equipment and the rates for the gym are unbelievably low compared with other gyms in NYC!
The maintenance staff is wonderful. Seriously - everything that has ever been broken has been fixed in an extremely timely manner. I have never had to call twice and they always fix it to my satisfaction.
Yes, the elevators can be a pain - but come on - this is a highrise building. There are sometimes elevator problems in all high rise buildings!!!
In summary, this is probably the best place to live in NYC. The dopes who wrote that it sucked will soon find out that it really was wonderful and they were just being whiny brats!

Well, like that person said, you have been there for 5 years and probably have a stable, controlled rent. You have been there for FIVE YEARS!!! The staff SHOULD know your name. The elevators are ALWAYS broken! It is ridiculous. I agree, the front desk staff is nice. But, the place was built cheap and the management company is so rude. No wonder they keep changing it. It is still awful! DO NOT MOVE IN THERE...it is awful!! And packages get lost there all the time. Both me and my roommate had lost packages, or packages that they seemed to "misplace" for a week or longer. It is so bad there...glad I moved out!

The elevators break sometimes. All things break sometimes. DUH! The management company changed once in 5 years (from Milford to Ogden) I would hardly call that 'all the time'! I get packages delivered all the time and they have NEVER been lost! It's a great place to live. I highly recommend moving in!!

My packages are always there, and the concierge's always call me by name and let me know I have a package. The elevators do SUCK though, they should give everyone a hiatus on increasing rents until they fix them for once! No bugs in my apt, the other used must be a slob. Although the air conditioning units need to be fixed or upgraded. They do not work well, and my electric bill is $300 in the summer.

MY GOD! Where to begin? The elevators are always broken, the management is worse than rude, they can be actively hostile if one of the little Napoleon's there decides they want to exercise their authority on you in particular, the security staff is run by bizarre guys who act like they're CIA, and the guards at the desk are the worst lowlifes you can imagine. Building 215 is filled with section 8 welfare "families" and has a record of break ins and hallway muggings (!!!!), but the security "staff" doesn't seem too concerned about that particular problem though. There's a beautiful plaza with a fountain, but you'll have to compete with the homeless that are camped out there every day (again security is not too concerned with that either) and of course the filth they leave behind adds a delightful ambiance. They have a playroom for children upstairs where the gym is, but unfortunately its usually a mess, with old wrappers and left over food mixing in with the broken and dirty toys.
