River Place Apartments

Very happy experience From: naadimre Date posted: 12/28/2007 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007   We've lived here for 2 and a half years and have had a very pleasant experience. the only reason i'm leaving is b/c i got a job out of state. i've been using this site to scope out apts where i'm moving and out of curiosity i checked river place out. i was shocked to see that it only had a 50% recommendation. i would move back here in a heartbeat. PROS: -the building is beautiful, very well kept, new flower arrangements in the foyer daily-weekly; on holidays, the place is decorated accordingly. -the staff is super friendly (i don't know what that one reviewer was talking about). -the front desk staff is always helpful, and most of the time there are people who are opening the doors for you. -maintenance in our apt has always been timely, on the weekends even -the building is very safe and secure -garage attached to the building for $325/mo (i guess that's reasonable for nyc) -gym with pool (i think it's $500 per year, and even tennis court (outdoor though and they charge extra for it even with gym membership) -walls are pretty sound proof -the price is average to cheap compared to other nyc apts -we've paid rent late accidentally a few times without ever being charged a late fee CONS: -the apt is not located in the best area - all the way out on the west side, but the area is quickly growing. we're right near the river, and one of the piers has been constructed into a very cute park. -15 min walk to the nearest subway, but the bustop is right on the corner -construction going on all around, usually not a problem at night, but once i've woken up to a jack-hammer -have to pay $20 on top of gym membership for the outdoor tennis court (but that's new york i guess)
