In 12 years of renting in New York, I have never come across a more incompetant management staff. And with Brian Snachez as the manager, it's like the blind leading the blind. For my lease renewal it took 3 re-writes for them to correct all of his mistakes. I thought I'd never get the copy returned. It was on his desk waiting to be counter signed for 4 weeks!
Mel, the overly tanned girl in the office is too busy showing off her hooker shoes to the doormen to pay attention when you ask her questions about apartment availability and maintenence issues. The fat girl in the office always acts surprised when you ask her ANYTHING and fumbles for answers. The only nice person who has been the the frequently rotating staff is the older lady who is behind the desk now. But who knows how long she'll be there before they turn her into an idiot too.

Don't bother moving in here, because you will never get anything fixed, and they will treat you like ---- while jacking your rent 13% if you want to stay. You are better off ANYWHERE ELSE. I've already got my name on the list for the new building across the street.

Yes the management is incompetent but so are many other buildings. The building is kept clean, bug free and the cheap parking garage and cul-de-sac is definately a plus. I've never had a problem with maintenance, although I do tip $10/trip to make sure they arrive quickly. I've lived here for over 4 years and it's not the best but its definately not the WORST. Oh and if you don't think your rent at the BRAND NEW building across the street will go up 10-15% each year--it will. I have many friends in full service buildings around the area and their rents are much higher than mine and go up consistently...with some at the Victory who's rent have gone up 20% and more!!! It's really just how you look at it...

Bug Free?!? Ummm... the ant infestation is pretty much common knowlege! I've even met Real Estate agents who asked me if I had ants when they found out where I lived. And I cannot count the number of times I've gotten on the elevator to see garbage on the floor. Its gross.

I can agree that management is incompetent. Must disagree with the clean and bug free. We had a terrible ant problem that the building would never address. Further, the halls were continually filthy. It is really one of the dirtiest buildings I have experienced.

I've lived here four years and the rent has went up 49% since move in. Last year - can't wait to get out like everyone else. No luxury living for the price. Outrageous rent increases and operating like a hotel? Not sure if it's legal but check out the building commissioners website for NYC you'll see complaints about illegal hotel conversion. When I signed a lease I didn't sign up for hotel living. If that's the case then I want someone to clean my place and make the bed everyday - with the outrageous rent that kind of service should be included!

I have read lots of reviews on this place so far and my statement to you all is: It must not be that bad, you're still living there. If you're truly subjected to "torture" as you say, you'd move out. P.S. way to be the most superficial person to ever walk the face of the planet, as you pick apart someone's physical appearance. You're obviously perfect. :o)

Thanks Brian, but we weren't talking about the hospital people that stay here. I know that there is a charity that rents units in the building for them. And I know that there are also a couple of corporate relocations companies that do short term rentals for executives in the building. That is not what we are upset about. I think we are all complaining about the real tourists. The ones who come in and out and treat the building like a hotel, illegally renting units in order to help the building fake a low vacancy rate and higher profitability to look good on the balance sheet for the prospective buyer. (none of whom have made an offer on this dump yet I might add! when even Silverstein turns his back on this place you know its an over priced sh*thole)

It is not a hotel conversion. Open your eyes. They rent 5 apartments to a charity who house cancer patients in town for treatment. This is a godsend for these people who would not be able to afford the outrageous hotel rates on a long term basis. They are not there on vacation, they are there to try and stay alive. Now that you know, be compassionate.

You live in Manhattan and are worried about strangers? ROTFLMAO Maybe you should move to Mayberry. ;)
From: Anonymous Date: 11/11/2008
maybe they should let us know what they're doing instead of being so shady about everything. And i do see a lot of tourist. This is our home and I don't like having to deal with trying to figure out who all the strangers are . TO THE ANONYMOUS REVIEW ON 11/07/08 - This is exactly the response I would expect from the building mgt. They forget that this is our home & they think we're being silly when worry about things like this ---

Check out Midtown West Vacation Rentals with a pool on CL... Guess what comes up first? This is neither a charity nor corporate apartment they're offering... http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/vac/1014085105.html

Many of us have moved out of RW (we moved out in 2007, and love our new rental, an Archstone property in the Theater District). Odd things had been going on at RW for about a year, but once Brian Sanchez arrived, we got a 30% rent increase, and fewer services, so what was the point?
