I loved the building, but it really devolved last 2 years or so.

I lived at Riverbank west from 2002 until 2009. When Marni was there, she worked with me and found me an apt. on a lower floor for the same rate, even though this was a few years before the financial crisis we are in at this time.

This spring, I tried to work with the management; initially, they tried to raise my rent -- good luck with that one. People were moving out of the building on a daily basis. Then, when I gave my resignation letter, Mel called me two days later and said, "Hey, we had a meeting, and we mulled it over( not her vocabulary, but allow me creative license,) and we decided that if we're giving new tenants these great deals, why not work with existing tenants' Wow, what a novel idea! Work with a generous, reliable tenant, who has had a good reputation in the building for 7 years! You're a genius!

I told her I wanted a 2 bedroom for close to $3,000, and she said that was impossible in this neighborhood, and that there was no way I could find anything lower than $4200; she then offered to lower my rent by two hundred dollars. Well, not only did I get an apartment twice the size on the same block;but, it's a corner apartment with two bedrooms and two bathrooms with views of the Hudson and downtown on a higher floor, and guess what -- it's $3,000 per month. The staff there is fantastic, and I actually really miss them. They were genuinely kind and warm, and they are what make the building. Other than that, there are far better deals in "the neighborhood."

Like everyone says they don't give a crap about you sign the lease and the rent increases are horrible. rented a 1 bedroom for 2000 and after 5 years they wanted over 3000 for what they call a luxury building. by no means should it be categorized that way. it's simply just okay and the managment sucks since Marni left. went down hill from there. i'm sooooo happy i got out of there. there are so many nicer places around. don't know how the person above found a 2 bedroom for 3000, now that's a steal. furthermore, mel silva is a dumb a** who doesn't have a clue about dealing with people or running a building rental. don't know who she slept with to get that job. i've never dealt with such incompetence from any place i've rented from in my lifetime. do yourselves a favor and find a better deal elsewhere and save yourself the headaches.

First - I had a nightmare about this place last night which is why I checked back here. Now my review. I don't get what they're doing either. We also moved out after they wouldn't budge and we also found a much nicer place for a lot less money. They don't get it and that's why people are moving out. Unless they know something we don't-which I almost have to assume is the case because it's almost as though their trying to get rid of the people that live there
