Hi,

I lived at the Rivergate (34th Street & 1st Ave) and actually lived through the worst nightmare. The helicopter's noise and deadly fumes were unbearable.

My husband and I were treated like animals; I resorted to studying on the bathroom's floor for 8 months, trying to do my best as a first year dental student at New York University College of Dentistry. I placed a comforter and sofa pillows on the floor, laptop on a toilet seat, and with my back against the bathtub, I studied for my classes. The noise was so excessive that I felt the vibration of bathroom walls and apartment fixtures.

The landlord ------------- was informed about the terrible living and studying conditions via ----------- (the tenant liaison) and did not do anything!!! They let us suffer! What kind of human beings are they' My husband informed --------------, the manager of Manhattan Skyline Management, and we received letters declining any repairs or replacements of damaged window frames. After 8 months, the apartment received 5 violations by the city inspector sent out by the Investigating Governor.

When Rivergate received violations, we were more harassed by management than ever before. We called the police, and the police waited in the lobby. For some reason, they could not "find" our apartment. [ Is it because ------ paid for their annual ball' It must be so. ]

Likewise, the city inspector only arrived because he was sent by the investigating governor. We have the video of regular inspectors seeing the broken areas of the apartment and NOT writing down the violations. It took regular inspectors 8 months to check the apartment. They were paid off, too.!!!! Our door lock was broken and doors could not lock.

We packed what we could (mostly my study materials) and moved to the hotel in New Jersey. What a relief that was! We finally could sleep, rest, and I could study! No helicopters, no toxic fumes.

By the way, the Rivergate Apartments do NOT have carbon monoxide detectors installed which is a violation of the law, too.

There is so much more to this and I will be posting every day because up to this point, I was holding everything inside. It is killing me. We lost everything we worked for because of landlord's greed.

How come the landlord is not punished to the same extent as my husband and I were punished' I want the landlord to live in the same apartment and watch his wife suffer the same way we have suffered. I seek justice and I will get it!
