As a recent arrival to NYC and Harlem, I love the neighborhood and apartment. The apartment is completely refurnished, all utilities are included, and the one-bedroom is very large (730 sq feet). The building is well secured and maintained. Have talked with maintenance staff and super. They are always friendly and helpful.
Some other pluses: Laundry on-site (uses Hercules cards). No problems with machines. Savoy Park is only 5 short blocks to either the 145 or 134 subway station, thus making a commute to midtown really easy! The MET Grocery store is on the same block, providing inexpensive food (currently awaiting remodeling, so lots of items are pulled from shelves in anticipation). Plus, there is also a LOTS store on the block that has many everyday household items at great prices.
I've also found the management to be very responsive to inquiries. Management has followed through with commitments and promises. No problems. I feel very safe in the building and it is quiet.
The greatest aspect of my time here at Savoy Park has been the sense of community that is established here. I expected neighbors to be distant from one-another (this had been my experience with being in other high-rise apartment buildings). Not the case here. People are very warm here and treat one another as human beings.

I must agree! I have just recently moved into Savoy Park. I was initially reluctant to moving into this area, but that has incompletely changed. In the mornings I am greeted with MORNING. Completely unexpected.
The only thing I would say with a less then positive remark about living here is there are not as many choices of restaurants. Although there is a soul food spot I have found to be very good...

Go to 2nd Ave if you need a restaurants. Leave HARLEM TO THE HARLEMITES. You should have followed your first mind Mr. Reluctant. You people are the reason tenants who have lived there for years and years have been evicted to make room for people who were reluctant to moving into "this" area. We cant afford high rents so we had to move. Maybe I can move to Columbus Ave/3rd Ave or even Park Ave. Oh yea I forgot we cant move below 116th Street.
