This is probably one of the worst apartment buildings in NYC!
The owner, Tishman Speyer is horrible. They do not care about anyone living there.
Here is what you get:
No heat, no hot water, noise that is beyond anything you should have to deal with.
Pot smoke filling the stairwell. Obnoxious students that come from NYU...and I will be fair and say it is probably not all students. But definitely a major contributer to this horrible lifestyle. Students having sex in the middle of the development.
Oh, and let's not forget the gross laundry rooms that you would never want to wash your clothes in.
So please do yourself the favor, do not rent here. You will be so sorry that you did. There are so many more nice places to live in this beautiful city. Go there and be happy!!

Skip calling their bought and paid for security. Try the cops or 311 - I guarantee you'll get quicker action, and that way it's public record.

I couldn't agree more. Since moving in... our biggest gripes have been the poor response by management to address any issues we may have. If its too cold, they tell you their new heating system is working well. If its banging pipes that wake you up in the middle of the night, they don't even acknowledge it. If your neighbors are consistently loud and obnoxious, they tell you to call security. The walls in your apartments will be paper thin. You can easily hear you neighbors when they talk on the phone.
If your faucet is leaking, expect to wait up to 2 weeks for someone to fix it. The laundryroom machines that were all upgraded, breakdown with alarming regularity. The bike room may not be a "bikeroom" after all rather.. a pipe screwed into the wall that you can lock your bike to. And in several buildings, expect your recycling and garbage to pile up for weeks.
Also, please expect to see graffiti, and don't expect the security team to catch the culprits on the myriad of cameras around. Somehow, that event didn't get caught on tape.
Whats worse is the ABOVE market rates you will pay for your less than average experience.
If you are hoping for "luxury living" this isn't it. You will be disappointed after you move in. Talk to ANYONE who has lived there (or currently does) and they will have a similar story to tell.
