Globally great

The Symphony House is a very pleasant place. Been living there for a year.
The staff is great, globally helpful and polite, except for two guys, the 'Moustache Duet', who might be the rudest doorman/concierge in all New York. Fortunately, there is also Senad, a young and always smiling concierge, who is clearly the nicest person around. As far as the onsite representative of the building's management, she is very efficient and responsive. The maintenance staff is also polite and able.
From the apartments, which are clean and well-equipped, the views are fantastic, but you have to get used to the noise, especially firemen sirens (there's a busy fire lane on 8th Avenue), even in the high floors. You do not hear anything from the other units, except if you happen to live next to mad partying lads (I did the first months), in which case the security guys react fast and effectively, as well as the management.
The lobby makes the place look like a palace, with fresh flowers changing all the time and beautiful arrangements during the Holiday Season. The place is kept very clean and the waiting area is just beautifully furnished.
One of the building's main assets is the Starlight Club, a rooftop facility with a pool and a jacuzzi under a glass ceiling, a state-of-the-art health club, a huge, confortable lounge where brunches are served every Sunday in a warm atmosphere, and a breathtaking roofdeck overlooking Central Park and the south of the island. The crew there is just great, even organizing special events such as Valentine's Day brunches or End of summer BBQ. Really nice people.
To conclude, the rent is a bit expensive, there is a fee for the Club and noise is quite irritating, but the Symphony House is such a nice, well-run and globally welcoming place that it is clearly worth it, especially due to its perfect location. x-2PE3sjUIIeetAHoKOk
