Worst building I've ever lived in...

where do I begin - I came to the building in early 2008 and cannot wait to get out. You would think that paying 4K-plus for an apartment might get you a properly managed building. Far from the case. For example, there are weekly hot water outages, and not the type that are scheduled (though those are frequent as well). There is no one to call; multiple calls to the building manager have gone unanswered, which is truly outrageous. The doorman are not empowered to get anything accomplished; you are solely at the mercy of whoever is supposed to keep the place running. There is always at least one elevator that does not work - the buiding is significantly under-elevatored as it is, which leads to terribly frustrating wait times in the morning. There was a stretch in the summer where only 1 elevator worked. Again, no guidance, no information, nothing to help you get over the fact that you're rotting in your crummy hallway unecessarily for ten minutes. Oftentimes you must let one or two elevators pass because they are packed.

This is only a part-time doorman building. There are long stretches during the day where a porter, whose job responsibilities do not include general 'doorman services' and who often do not speak English, is stationed at the front desk. When the official doormen are on, they are far from polite and don't lift a finger.

This is to say nothing of the massive base-building renovation program (which has recently been Stop Work Order-ed and which, by the way, is at least 6 montths behind schedule.

All in all I'm living in a building that couldn't give a damn less how satisfied its tenants are. I'm not looking for luxury - I don't use the gym (disgusting and small as it is), I don't care that my balcony has been unuseable for months, I just want a building that is properly managed. This is not it.
