I live in 75 West End Ave...not 55.

From what I am getting, the people over at 55 are generally unhappy due to the odors, infestation, construction, etc. I can understand that since they face Western Beef which is gross and they're right by the garbage pickup from both buildings and a main part of the construction. It truely is always filthy over there.

Over here at 75 West End Ave is a different story. For the price that you're paying it's a total steal. Yeah it's no Trump building but it's pretty damn nice. I live in one of the upper floors with a balcony overlooking the entire city. People who come here are shocked at the view I have. Since the pile driving stoped with the construction it's really not that bad and they only work during working hours so unless you never work during the day you will probably never hear them. The building is always clean...every now and then there is a mess but it's normally cleaned up very quickly. The doormen have always been nice to me...I think you just need to be nice to them as well and the respect is returned.

I live in a 2 bedroom that we converted to a 3 bedroom, there is more than enough space for everyone, we have tons of room for pregames with friends on the weekend.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced apartment that is a pseudo high class building this is it. It's not all the way there but for the apartments my friends are renting this definitly beats them and costs the same. We're paying $3800 for our two bedroom convert so it's like $1250 a piece give or take. My neighbors are great too. The walls are practically soundproof.

Oh yeah and the projects really aren't that bad. Whoever keeps writing these horrible things about them must have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth. I go to law school and walk through there at 2am all the time after the library and I have NEVER had a problem. It's a little shady but no big deal. Cops are sitting in there very often as well to make you feel better. There was a random stabbing at the bus stop in September or October but it seriously was random...they think it was a gang initiation and just by chance went down infront of the building.
