We moved into this apartment, a 4 bedroom townhouse with a basement, and were really excited. The kitchen was all updated, the basement was clean, and there was 1 1/2 baths. Plus, kudos, all utilities included. Too bad we can't seem to keep the temperature in the apartment above 60 degrees without the help of a space heater. Or the mold now growing in the basement from the window stuck open. Or the pipe that leaked (which they wanted to blame on us) and destroyed about $1,000 worth of clothes. Or the flies getting in through the gaps in the windows. The dirt field in the playground (should say...mud). Wasps in my shed. Wasps getting in through gap in upstairs screen! Have to keep windows closed in the summer because bugs at night! Air conditioning in only 1 room. Crappy carpet they claim was new which it wasn't! You could see the marks from prior furniture. Leaking sink! Skunks! A garbage dumpster we're NOT allowed to use...make that 3 of them! Not allowed to use garbage disposal...if you do and it gets screwed up, you owe over $200!

Okay...nice neighborhood. VERY multicultural. Quiet too. Convenient with CVS, Post Office, Day Care, and Pediatrician's office, as well as Urgent Care clinic all in walking distance. Parking not horrible, but sucks all the same, there's no assigned spots. Maintenance is FAST...usually same day...but rude. They take NO responsibility for ANYTHING that goes wrong. Yearly inspections are annoying...BETTER NOT HAVE CLUTTER. If you have clutter, you'll get kicked out. Apparently the apartment complex think they're the Ritz Hotel. Sure, we need to maintain, but they do too! And they don't. Floors are uneven. ANTS! I could go on but I won't. It's just not worth it.

When I read this response I couldnt help but see what my friend is also going through. Shes in a 1 bedroom and we have talked to her neighbors regarding the ants, garbage, animals, bees, spiders, ect. The tenents seem to be judged on how clean they live. How can you be judged fairly when you are not given much notice? or what about having a illness, or bad day and god forid you dont clean the kitchen or bathroom to their specification? This is unreal expectations on people. I know that there are slobs out there but come on. One other tenet got slammed from the superintendent about a few boxes of computor parts that blocked the hallway. Well the hallway is only 3-4 feet across and the boxes were about 12 inches. Just because he felt that is was clutter doesnt mean it is. We all have different views of what clutter is or what a good example is. This most certainly is unfair. The maintence staff told another tenent that they are not resposible for the way something is fixed. They tried to blame her on what she put down her garbage disposal. Um...she contacted a personal plumber who told her she did nothing wrong. They have been told wrong info from "wannabee plumbers" Another tenent called about bees. The problem still hasnt been fixed and its been since spring. Skunks and racoons will most certainly be there if they keep ignoring tenents pleas for new garbage cans and lids. Hmmm what will it take to get Penbrooke to see that they really need to take surveys from there tenents to see what really needs to addressed?...a bite from a racoon? Anyway...They say dont feed the animals with a garden??? what about the GARBAGE CANS? Clean up the garbage and you will most likely get rid of the animals! My other beef with this complex is how they dont really take care of problems no matter how many times you write them. They draw up a HUGE lease and when you want some rights they dont give a damn. I have seen police called on some kids and still they end up doing the same thing. I have not seen any fixing of the balconies. In talking with many tenents they say the nails are comign out, boards are cracked, splinter areas, ect...will it take a fall of a person to make them see the repairs they need to address? Who knows...ok..now I am stressed just doing this. It makes me so sad to see what happens here. I really would like to see more done for the tenent and management care and show compassion and willingness to do what is right for the tenent.
