Besides the paint chipping all over my bathtub (don't know why they painted the tub in the first place)which still hasn't been fixed after 2 1/2 MONTHS; and the water which gets turned off for days at a moments notice; and the creepy groundsmen that stop what they're doing and stare at you when you leave your apartment, I have another problem with Mountain Brook. I mistakenly signed another lease with them and a week and a half later I found out I had to move for a job transfer. Because my lease wouldn't start for another 3 weeks, I thought I could just put it on month to month and still give them the customary 30 days notice. They'll still get their money from me so they'll be happy, right' Not the case. I was informed that even though my lease didn't even start, they were going to take my whole security deposit ($775) because for the whole week and a half they THOUGHT I was going to stay. Now they are in the horrible position of finding a renter for the "easiest apartment to occupy in Mountain Brook" (quoted directly from the former Mountain Brook manager). So, I explained my problem to the to the KAMSON Corp. (owners of Mountain Brook) and they coldly suggested I "take responsibility" for my signing the lease. Nevermind the fact that the manager at KAMSON won't even do the courtesy of calling me back after many attempts to communicate with him. In other words-- once we have your money, we don't care. That is the feeling I get about this apartment complex and it's parent company. Don't rent here unless you like fake people and a fake sense that Kamson and Mountain Brook cares.
