I relocated to the area from elsewhere and was familiar with Ridgefield Apartments, which is across the street. My roommate and I decided to move to Mountain Brook because we thought that it was the best value for the amount of money for a two-bedroom (about $30 more per month than Ridgefield). We should have known after the policy of not showing the apartments (except the "sample" apartment) that something was fishy, but continued on good faith. Since we moved in, the roof in our bathroom (read the other reviews....is there a pattern here') has leaked and it literally took two and half weeks for it to be fixed, the heat has been off four times (once in October and three times in January!!!), snow removal is a joke, and the apartment was an absolute mess when we arrived in May (dirty bathroom and kitchen, sticky floors). In addition, the apartment bore absolutely no resemblance to the clean, airy apartment that was shown to us when we were looking at apartments. Also, the foundations of the building are not properly constructed so water floods them regularly, leaving a breeding ground for mosquitos and mold, as well as flooding the boilers so the heat goes out. I question whether or not this is both a health code violation and a building problem. Generally speaking, the maintainance staff is very responsive as long as they receive notice that a call was made for work on the apartment, but I think the task of caring for these apartments is insurrmountable for three people, much less a team of twenty-five or thirty. We are counting the days to get out of here. When you're looking, do yourself a favor and spend the extra $30.
