They are the wolves in sheeps' clothing. They always seemed cheerful and helpful at first (especially when you are looking for an apt). But they started to get impolite once you asked them for assistance.

As one of the reviewers has also mentioned, we're only given a sample apt when we first came in to view the apt. When we finally moved in, the apartment was in a sad condition. The bathtub had chipped walls, the carpet was dirty, and there was a yellow puddle on the kitchen countertop.

Believe it or not, we had to fight words with the manager just to have them clean up the dirty apartment on the day we moved in. We were very shocked with the impolite behaviour of the manager who 'lectured' us that the cleaning was not in the contract and was our responsibilities. After half an hour arguing, she finally decided to send maintenance people to come up. The maintenance people were not friendly at all either. They looked annoyed when I told them to cover their dirty shoes with plastic bags.

Last year, Mountain Brook claimed that they have improved and under new management. Unfortunately, it is not true. The people and the service were still as horrible as before.

Later that year, I had a problem with my mailbox. The mailbox cannot be locked because the metal that was supposed to hold the mailbox door was loose. As a result, the mailbox door was widely opened. I called the management office to have them fix it and they said they'll send somebody asap.

Two days later I went to check my mail and the mailbox still has not been fixed. With no lock on the mailbox, I will not receive any letters that come for me. Knowing their 'helpful' reputation and 'prompt' service, I ended buying what were needed and fixed it up myself.

In short, you cannot rely on the management people at Mountain Brook. They will only say the things that you want to hear with no actions followed.

I can understand why they have so many vacant apartment these days. I myself will move out in a month from this 'junkyard'.
