We reluctantly signed a second year lease. We are planning on buying a home in 2009 and wanted to go with a shorter term, but they pretty much made that impossible. Okay..we can understand that. However, this complex is by far NOT as advertised. These are NOT LUXURY TOWNHOMES! The walls are paper thin. The insulation around windows and doors' Nonexistent! The paint on the walls is the cheapest they could possibly get. Even the kitchen paint is not washable. The carpets are horribly thin and cheap. And the VINYL floors'! yes...VINYL!! Okay, let me repeat..these are advertised as luxury apartments and they're luxury expensive! The apartment complexes above us (there are two) both have beautiful tile floors in the bathrooms and kitchen. They are a tad smaller, and at the time more expensive for what you got...but not now with the rental rates being raised and these apartments no longer include the cable and internet as they did when we got here. We found that out AFTER signing our lease. Nice, huh'
And lets talk about the maintenance. WHAT MAINTENANCE' It took them 3 months to fix my AC. Why' The manager said "I thought you were moving!" and got a huge attitude when I said (1) there was absolutely nothing that could possibly have given him that impression and (2) what differenc would THAT make in 80 degree weather when I'm a current tenant' I have had my dryter, dishwasher and tub in need of service and it was ALL months in coming. We've been through 3 different management companies and two owners inless than two years.
And the roads...forget about clear roads in the winter. Forget about snow removal.
AND they take Section 8. LUXURY LIVING'
No..I promise you. This is NOT luxury living. It's been an awful experience and I'm glad we're less than a year away from owning our own home. At least we'll have some kind of control over our expenses and when things get repaired.
