The Absolute Worst

We first rented an apartment in 2003. That was on the west side of Stone Rd, a one-bedroom that we left because the upstairs neighbor had a live-in boyfriend that was a complete a**hole. Otherwise we had very few complaints during that first year.
We transferred to a building on the east side, in what is the original-built section. That was when the fun started.
The downstairs neighbor was a carbon copy of the other guy, but we encountered him less often.
The carpet was threadbare, wearing through in spots. Plugs fell out of the electric sockets. Complete retro chic, in other words.
We weren't in the best of financial circumstances, so we dealt with it.
Over the years, things got worse, especially after Steve, the head of maintenance when we arrived, left. Things didn't get fixed.
Our garbage disposal crapped out back in 2004. The shower started leaking around the same time. If someone from maintenance ever bothered to answer our call, they performed some sort of cursory examination, said they'd "order parts", and that was that.
I ended up fixing the toilet myself.
Eventually our circumstances became better. We were starting to look around for a new place when the ceiling collapsed on our heads one Friday night. Hadn't been out in a couple days...apparently the "roofers" decided not to put a tarp over the sections that they hadn't shingled, and a good rain came down on bare plywood.
It took two hours to get maintenance men on-site.
Shortly thereafter, the "owner" was hollering at me that I had caused this mess and was therefore responsible. This while the ambulance was arriving to take her to the hospital, as a four-by-eight piece of drywall had landed on her.
They put us up in a hotel for a couple of days and then we were set free to clean up after them. A crew came in and stuck pieces of drywall in the holes.
The same people threw some shingles on. finished half of the next building, and disappeared, leaving behind all manner of tools, supplies, and equipment, which one or another of them would retrieve, once in a while under the cover of dark. That went on until someone made off with the ladder...there's a lot more to this wonderful tale of urban malfeasance, but that'll hold for another time.
Meanwhile, the new manager (the place is in receivership) announced to us that they weren't renewing our lease.
Oh no!
We were SO planning to stay.

I used to live there too and that place was the worst place anyone could live. Once in awhile I drive by and see some old men and women who still live there and have been living there for over 20 years and are to old to move, and i feel soooo bad for them. I wish i could do something for them as that place is realy not safe to live in, all the ghetto trash is moving in. Do your self a favor and never move there. We know have lived in Greenleaf and I loooovvvvveeee it here wonderful all the way around. But if your trashy please dont move here, I would like to keep this place nice. Thanx!

OK we have just moved in about a month ago, I have heard horror story after horror story about this place. Whatever happened years ago or even last year no longer exist. The new staff (who have only been here 3 months) are absolutely caring and compassionate. They understand that the old owner who bought the place 4 years ago and did nothing from that point forward are gone now. In only 3 months you can see such a difference!!!! I am happy that I decided to listen to myself and not all these rumors about what happened in the past. Get over it and move on and give these new people a chance, I'm happy I did.

How do you know what the difference is if you've only been there a month?
The "new management" are transplants from another complex owned by the same group. You write like you're either part of that group or are paid by them.
They did hire a professional roofing crew but I'd bet that was done because the village of Greece threatened to close the whole place down.
Don't believe the hype.
