It's natural that people are different, like some guys stay up all night long. The real problem is they make noise, partying, talking/laughing loudly, playing music/TV with low frequency bass. Don't know if it's due to the preference of curry, they are shameless (though I don't want to be biased, I have to be honest). After frank, friendly reminder, they will say "sorry, really sorry"etc, but will do the same thing again and again. After multiple complaints to the management, they do send security to knock on their door. And they may lower the volume. But later (if not the next day), they simply do the same thing again. Now I gradually understand that the management just want to keep the tenants and make money(understandable). But they forget that they will drive other tenants away instead. Soon, this will be a curry world. I will move out soon.

I lived at Rustic in 2007, and I'm not Indian but I do have many Indian friends/aquaintances.
I wouldn't put all the blame on those of "Indian decent". I know plenty of ------- who are very quiet, studious, and respectful of others. Saying it's the ------- that make Rustic unenjoyable is a bit over the top. For the most part they are simple people, and Indian students always have the bare minimum in their apartments so you will be hard pressed to find many ------- with furniture or a bed, much less a sub-woofer.
For example, when I was living at Rustic I had a couple of French guys next door, two Indian families across the hall, and Chinese and Caucasian couples living upstairs. The issues I had was with the French guys next door (LOUD talking, laughing and music all the time) and the Caucasians living upstairs with their bass up full volume. I never had to complain about the ------- living in my building. Sure, it did smell of Indian food pretty much all the time, but their cuisine has a lot of spices to it so it should be expected.
Anyone who has ever looked for decent housing in Rochester knows it is hard to come by. Rustic Village is not that bad - the amenities are good and it's probably the biggest apartment complex in the city. I would probably live there again, since I wouldn't want to live in some run-down multi-family home in the inner loop!

I think you misinterpreted these comments, to be honest. I don't think anyone's blaming certain people for ALL the problems at this complex. But, let's be honest, if you have problems with certain people, that's what you associate those problems with, e.g. you and your previously annoying French neighbors. Obviously, no single race or denomination can be blamed, but if you have French, Caucasian, or Indian neighbors who are annoying you, that's that.
As for the odor - I believe Rustic Village does it's best to cover up the smell for incoming tenants. While living in my apt. there was never anything done about it while I was there, UNTIL new tenants were moving in, then, suddenly, the management is cleaning 2-3 times a week in the common area - until the parties are all moved in, then it stopped again. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the smell, it's a cultural thing - but those who don't expect it may be surprised when it doesn't simply stick to the common area, but may seep through your front door, and even through your bathroom vent if the neighbor you share that wall with is also Indian.
Anyways - people take issue with different things. I don't believe anyone's trying to offend or accuse a single people, but I believe prospective tenants do deserve to know that they should expect to deal with a very strong odor if they move here, there's nothing wrong with mentioning that.
