Westbrooke Commons

Lived here. Would never do it again. From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 6/8/2004 Years at this apartment: 1998 - 2003   I lived in Westbrooke commons during my years at RIT and can honestly say it was the least enjoyable place I've ever lived. The only plus was the many parties that go on throughout the week. However if you want to get any studying done or, time permitting, get some sleep you had better make a trip to the library. I always knew the living accomidations were bad but it wasn't until I graduated that I realized how bad they were. I started looking at other townhouses throughout Rochester and was amazed at what I found. Not only did other communities cost less and offer more (both in terms of space and features) but they were in better areas of town. When I told the Westbrooke rental office that I would be moving they treated me like dirt. The management seems to change daily and the person I talked to when I was getting ready to leave wasn't even there when I actually left (two months later). After I left I found out that they were taking money out of my security deposit to pay for repairs to the townhouse that were caused by the poor construction of the building. I had discussed that with the previous office staff and they explained that I would not be charged for anything (in fact, I could have made them pay me if I had time or interest in such things). Then this new manager charges me almost the total sum of my security deposit for repairs I'm not responsible for. After several attempts at a refund I eventually gave up. Later I found out that it has become common practice for Westbrooke to keep your deposit. Maybe that was my punishment for leaving there community. Anyway, I'm done venting now. I guess the bottom line is don't live here. It's not worth the headaches. Check around and you'll find better (and cheaper) places to live. So good luck with your search. Maybe I'll see you in my new complex.
