Did the townhouse thing @ Westbrooke for 3 years while at RIT. Not a place to have parties, or to be a musician. Townhouse neighbors are a mix of other college kids, white trash, and old people with excellent hearing. I specify TH because they are split into two areas: Alfie Drive & Loden Lane. Alfie is right beside an industrial complex, so get used to the comforting hum & glow of industrial lights. Loden is much better, nestled in with a neighborhood.
Parking can be a problem, esp in winter when people forget how to park, or on Fri/Sat night when parties are happening. They've never towed to my knowledge, but threatened my roomate a few times w/ it. Plowing does happen, but be ready to get up early on the weekend to move your car so they can plow.
Insulation is horrible, so be ready to pay 200 for heating in the winter, and about 180 for AC if you're so inclined (I always am). Not much grass to play on, but there is a 'park'.
Overall, amazingly convenient apartments, rates are consistently better than RIT housing, but you get what you pay for.
