I lived here for two years and I must say it was the worst experience I had at an apartment. First the walls are paper thin. My one neighbor would blast his TV 24 hours a day and I heard everything. I constantly heard my other neighbor on the phone and heard all of his conversations. I was forced to constantly run my AC or a fan to diminish the noise. When I first rented the apartment the office staff told me they check out the people they rent to (run a credit check and check references). But I soon found out the clientele in the development is trashy. One person in my building was growing pot out on their balcony, people kept breaking the lock to the front door and people would ring others' bells at all hours of the night to get in the building when it was locked.

Now the staff of the apartment. One winter my heat was busted. It took days for them to come to fix it. And they only came after I reported them to the city. I was at work when they came; I did give them permission to come in. When I came home from work my dresser drawers were open as well as my kitchen cabinets. Some of my tools were on the kitchen floor as well as a few bowls. The next morning I called the office very upset and spoke to a woman (the office manager) and I explained that the staff went through my things and left my apartment a mess. She replied that the maintenance men needed tools to fix my heat so they had to look for them. My reply was that their maintenance staff doesn't have there own tools and had to look through a single woman's drawers to find some' She didn't seem to care until I told her I was going to file a report with the police. She asked if anything was missing and I told her not to my knowledge but my drawers were ransacked. She than finally apologized but did not seem to understand why I was upset. After that incident I changed the locks on my door for my safety. I did not feel safe in this building as a young single woman.

The building has monthly pest extermination that is mandatory. One time I let them in to spray my apartment and the exterminator went straight into my kitchen and opened the cabinets. Before I could stop him, he sprayed in the cabinets where I kept my food. After this incident I again called the office and they said they have to spray in the cabinets. I told them they sprayed pesticides on my food and I had to throw everything away. The office staff was unfazed and did not care. She told me my food was safe to eat; I told her fine, than I'll bring it over tomorrow and make you lunch. Another time they came into spray and the exterminator almost sprayed my cat who was hiding in a corner but visible. He only stopped when I yelled at him. After that I kicked them out and never let them spray again. The staff would call and tell me they had to spray but I always refused citing the past incidents but they did not see the problem.

To sum it up Willowbrook apartments is full of trashy people, the walls are paper thin, the building locks are constantly being broken, it is not safe and the staff is HORRIBLE and extremely unhelpful. If you are an educated working person don't rent here because you won't fit in.

I must say I did learn a lot about finding a place to live through my experience. My advice, don't just look at the apartment once. Come back a few times, especially at night. Get a good feel for the area. The staff of the building is only going to tell you positive things, it's your job to check out everything yourself. If you care about where you live do some research.
