The recent, negative reviews explain pretty much everything, but I thought I would include a list of my own to give an impression of the problems I dealt with while living here:
1. Some mornings I almost couldn't get out of the parking lot due to lack of snow removal. It was pretty unnerving, given the fact that I had final exams these mornings. Luckily, I was able to eventually make it out by gunning it up the hill, and spinning my tires on the snow.
2. My utility bills were extremely high: almost $200 a month, for a $575 a month 1-bedroom. My feet were constantly freezing in the winter due to the poor insulation. There were cracks all around my front door where I could actually feel the heat escaping.
3. The heater in my bedroom stopped working twice. Luckily, one time was in October. The other time, however, was in January, so I had to sleep in my living room for a night until the maintenance person could come fix the heater. He fixed it fine, but I heard him saying to another maintenance worker that "everything here is on its last legs."
4. The heater in my bathroom does not work, and has never worked.
5. Due to the parking lot not being plowed, my parking space was constantly being taken by other tenants. I fixed this by placing reflectors, with my apartment number on them, in order to mark my spot. This worked for a while, until one day I returned from school to find that the reflectors had been stolen.
6. I can hear my neighbors above me, including snoring, walking up and down stairs, and yelling. When they go into their basement, I can hear them through the wall as if they were in the same room as me.
7. The heater in my bedroom is noisy and keeps me awake.
8. Sometimes the coils on my electric stove didn't work.
9. Garbage was often strewn about the grounds, and sometimes other people's garbage would appear in front of my apartment.
10. The electricity in my apartment was iffy. Sometimes turning off one light would cause another to turn on, sometimes plugging in an appliance would cause another appliance (e.g. my alarm clock) to light up and go off, and some times I was afraid to flip light switches directly due to extreme static electricity.
*** Overall, my experience at Briarcliff was very poor. The Spring and Summer months would probably be more desirable, but the Winter months were downright terrible.

The spring and summer months have their own problems---car vandalism, discarded beer cans, discarded condoms on blacktop dirveway. People drive to the dark areas of the property in the middle of the night,...use drugs and discard used condoms etc...it is absolutely disgusting to see these items when walking my pet. QUALITY OF LIFE IS HORRIBLE. I COUNT THE DAYS UNITL I WILL BE MOVING.
