I was generally happy at High Acres...until I moved out. It took 4 months to get back my security deposit. After about 10 phone calls I received my deposit. When I did get it I was charged $250 for "cleaning" on what was a very clean townhouse when I left. Ridiculous!

Yes. They'll nickle and dime you....I swear. It's too bad, nice area....too bad management is so bad.

I suspect they held my elderly neighbor's rent check for the 12th month of her lease. In the 25 years she's lived here she's never been late before. They then tried to get her to pay a $75 late fee despite the fact it was not in her old lease with the implied threat that she would not be allowed to renew if she didn't fork up. This is how they treat 86 year old woman. I have contacted both the NY Attorney General's office and the AARP to look into possible pigeon holing of elderly people's rent checks in a sleazy effort to collect late fees. When my lease expires I will be deducting the deposit from my last month's rent. These people cannot be trusted.

Management rarely returns all of your security deposit if any of it. I spoke with a couple people who work for them and they will do anything to keep that money. If they say the carpet has to be replaced plan on forking up your entire security deposit and possibly be charged more. The carpet replacement they charge you $1200. (and it doesnt matter if it was ------ to begin with)
