Decent place to live

This is a decent, reasonably priced place to live. The best thing about this place is its location. The location is great in that you can walk to downtown (Armory Square) and the SU campus -- although it is a little far if the weather is bad. There is a bank, grocery store and drugstore within a few blocks, as well as a bus stop in front of the building, so a car is not a necessity. If you are on a upper floor you can have decent views of the skyline or the lake.

The block that the building is located on is fairly safe, but some of the areas around there have some crime problems (I've witnessed an assault and lots of drug deals/busts). The building itself is pretty safe as it has controlled entry. The neighborhood can be a little noisy, primarily due to its close proximity to a hospital (lots of ambulance traffic).

I have two major complaints about the building. First, the elevators (it is a 12 story high rise) are often slow or broken (there are 3). They are in the process of replacing them with new ones, but I haven't noticed a huge improvement. The biggest problem with the building is that you do not have control over the heat. While the management is not stingy with the heat (utilties are included in rent), if you live on an upper floor it will get very hot. In the winter, this is not bad, in that opening windows solves this problem, but in the fall and spring (when the heat is one, but it isn't that cold out) it can be super hot. A few other minor complaints: I think they oversell (or do not enforce) parking permits so it is occassionally difficult to find a place in the lot (mainly late at night, not a problem during the day). Also, the trash chutes are ridiculously small, so that even a "kitchen sized" bag will not easily fit down them.
