The Quayside apartments in Troy are very beautiful and spacious. Each apartment is different and unique. Our apartment is very warm in the winter time, and we don't always have the heat running either. I would suggest a street side apartment only because the heating cost would be less in the winter. Usually people who have river side apartments pay more for heat and even rent.
The building is very safe, you need a key to get in, and there are security cameras monitoring the building. My neighbors are friendly and most of the folks who live in the building are graduate students and professional people. During the Christmas season some of the tenants gather at the building managers apartment(Dorothy) to plan Christmas decorations for the building. It is a nice time to meet people and it builds a sense of community.
Also Gary the maintainence man always fixing things promptly and does a good job. He helped us fix a very serious problem when we first moved in. It was a Saturday night and he drove in from Clifton Park to help us.
You live very close to the antique shops and many fine restaurants and bars. There is the Victorian stroll in the winter and River st fest in the summer. Also the farmers market is within walking distance.
There are many positives to living in the Quayside. The only draw back is the Captan JP because their patrons take our parking places. Other than that it is a great place to live
