Just something to think about....

I've been living here since 2005 and planning on moving out after my lease is up. Troy Gardens is a pretty nice place. I love the kitchen, the cabinets are new and they have ample storage to put your pots and pans. It also includes a dishwasher (which I never use). The rooms are a decent size. I love the fact that the second bedroom is around the same size as the "master bedroom". There is wall to wall carpeting and the maintence department responds quickly to problems. The area is quiet, mostly elderly people live there.
They do have some short falls though. In the winter the maintence department does not go out and shovel until about 8:30-9:00am. Well most of us leave for work around 7-7:30am to get to work by 8-9am, so you are left to shovel yourself out of the snow. Don't even get me started on the ice. Put on your iceskates on icy mornings because they could give a rats-behind about putting salt out for the people who have to get to work earlier than 10am. Also, I wrecked my Oxygen sensor in my car one icy morning trying to get my car out of the parking lot because they didnt salt. That was $110 out of my pocket for pure laziness on their part.
The hot water tanks which are placed in the closet of the "master bedroom" leak/bust frequently. I came home to find my room cascading in water from a hotwater tank that busted from the third floor apartment. Thamk goodness for renter's insurance. Two days later, water from the second floor apartment backed up into my bathroom. Needless to say, they had to move me to another apartment on the third floor. In a couple of months my hot water tank shorted out which meant it wasnt heating any water and then it eventually leaked. Thank goodness, I caught the leak before it completely busted! They replaced the heater and it's been fine since. There have been break-ins. And my car was ransacked and robbed for the spare change. Watch out for the RPI college kids when they move in. They are extrememely loud and take up the bulk of the parking on the weekends when they invite their friends over. My tip is to be home by 8pm on the weekends or you will not find a parking spot.
