Unfortunately when we rented here we were in a rush to find a place and didn't take too much time finding out about the area, schools, etc... The school district is horrible. The area is horrible - there is absolutely nothing near by. The apartments are WAY overpriced - we were paing $1700/month plus utilites which came to way over $2000/month. Paying that kind of money you would think the neighborhood would be filled with normal, hardworking people - wrong. The complex accepts Section 8 (affordable housing program) so most people that lived there had about 5 kids each and didn't work. We lived in an upstairs apartment and the family below us were horrible. You could honestly hear everything - from opening the door to putting the TV on. We had a mice problem in our kitchen which took about 2 weeks to fix. It was just a horrible experience. The office staff was nice though - never had any problems with them. You are much better off finding something in a better neighborhood. There is a place on Rt. 9 near All Sport Gym that is the same price range - much better location/schools.

Haha, wow. I can assure you, there is plenty nearby, provided you have 1) a car and 2) the mental capacity to make your way out of your apartment complex. Shoot on up rt 9 heading north. There you will find a multitude of eateries, movie cinemas, bookstores, department stores, coffee shops, etc, etc. Keep on going and you'll find yourself in historic Hyde Park. Want to do something educational with the kids? Try Vallkill, Roosevelt, Vanderbilt or the Morse home. Not feeling like going so far? Take a left out of your complex's main exit onto 9D and you'll hit Dia:Beacon, the largest modern art museum in the world. Swing down Main Street in Beacon and you'll find gourmet food, designer boutiques and charming art galleries. Are you more the outdoorsy type? You're right on the banks of the Hudson -- rent a kayak and go for it, or head across the river to Mohonk and try the rock scramble. My point? There is all of this stuff to do within 45 minutes of where you live, much of it within 15-20 minutes. And by the way, two weeks to get rid of mice is not an excessive amount of time. Welcome to earth. |

not everyone with section 8, are bad or the worst people in the universe.
so what they had 5 kids, the television turns on loud, get over it. why didn't you save all your money a get your self a house, when you rent you are more likely to live with the good, the bad and the indifference. who the hell are you degrading other people? have you clean out the skeleton's out your closets lately? get a life.

He's trying to be resonable in a difficult sitch. I have lived in Vista Point for a year now, i have had no problems with my neighbors or the staff for that matter, but i have personally seen over crowded apartments, and for the price were paying and the things he's been complaining about, he's right. it's unfair, for that much money he shouldn't have to be dealing with overcrowded neighbors who work and are home all day making noice.
