Deceivingly bad!

The office staff is some of the rudest and most incompetent I ever had to deal with. the office is a mess and it's no wonder that anytime you need something they tell you they're unable to locate things, namely your paperwork proving the condition of the apartment when you got it. The blonde in particular is just painful to have to deal with - she is the epitome of all blonde jokes and stereotypes. To start with, the apartment was dirty when we moved in and I had to clean it, so part of why we are so angry is that we left the apartment in better shape than we got it and we still got royally screwed on getting deposits back. We paid a lot up front b/c we had a dog. Our dog did do some damage to the carpet, which we expected to be taken out of our security deposit. It was, along with a host of other random, ridiculous things. I was literally on my hand and knees scrubbing that place top to bottom (upon leaving, it was cleaner than the house we moved into), and I was charged for "dust on windowsills and molding", and spots on the walls, which were actually caused by electrical appliances, and a broken rack in the fridge, which was broken when we got it (as i pointed out upon our initial walk through when we moved in). We got almost nothing back from our depsosits. And it took them several months to even get that back to us. Had I not been so exhausted from dealing with them and moving into a new home, I probably would have sued them for all this (as friends of mine did and won)! The noise from the "no tell motel" nextdoor was terrible as was the weekend rituals of underaged kids having sex, drinking and then pissing on everything in site. Renting to college kids was a problem - they were loud, obnoxious, and took up every parking space anywhere near your building with their friends coming over for parties. Every weekend I'd see vomit and cigarette butts on the walkwaus and patios beneath them after they had a party. It took maintenance several tries to get anything fixed, correctly. Snow removal was decent but salting walking areas was terrible - I took a nasty spill right in front of my front door before going to work one morning. I told the office and showed them the series of bruises I had and no one seemed to care. It was convenient for us to find an apartment that could take our small dog, however we were the only tenants that cleaned up after our dog. There was dog ---- everywhere and we?d see people just let their dogs go wherever they wanted. Again, the management could care less, however I was getting tired of navigating my way around other dogs? crap everyday. and many dog owners never put their dogs on leashes, which was also not enforced - my dog was bitten by one little ratty dog - I filed a report because i knew who the dog and owner was and nothing was done. The year and a half we were there the rent went up without any reason why and in addition to keeping 80% of our security deposits, we were charged an extra months rent and penalty fees b/c we had to break the lease due to buying a home. Don?t do it - that?s all I can say. The straw that broke the camel's back was that there was a semi-mentally retarded gentleman living there and he and I happened to be outside one day at the same time when he approached me and started talking to me. I didn't want to be rude, but he grabbed my arms, tried to kiss my hands, wouldn't let go of my dog, and proceeded to tell me he didn't want any problems with my husband because he'd beat the ---- out of him. Again I filed a report and nothing! No one I know has been happy there, except the Rochester Americans minor league hockey team, who received preferential treatment with leases and deposits etc... (I know this as I am good friends with many on the team).
