Staff wrote all of those great reviews, I happen to know that for a fact. Most of the tenants had similar complaints to mine, I started organizing a class action suit before I was banned from the property.
Here's the truth:
Over priced
heating bill is very high because the upstairs is like an inferno and the downstairs is freezing in the winter
Staff will lie lie lie and here's why:
They'll tell you there is no common noise but the noise is so loud from the garage doors opening and closing. You can hear your neighbors every word if they're near your wall. If someone lives above you, it sounds like elephants crashing in when they walk. Neighbors walking up and down the stairs sounds like they're in your own apartment. Smokers next door, comes right through the vents.
Major infestation of spiders and ants. They'll spray ONCE with store bought stuff that they do themselves, they don't hire exterminators. When the insects come back and you ask them to spray again, they'll tell you that you're the only one who complains. That's their way of saying, this is our limit in what we will do to rectify the situation. Minor maintenance problems are ok, don't go beyond that.
I went three days without hot water or heat b/c when I moved in, there was a flood from the AC unit in the closet which is very loud by the way. When I asked ---- to decrease that amount from the $2400 he stole from me, he denied it ever happened. I offered to show him the work order that I still have for it and he just kept saying the same rehearsed lie over and over again like a broken record, something they taught him in corporate jackass classes I'm sure. I think these people lie as a way of life with no guilt, shame or remorse. All they see is one goal and that is to get your money and massage their egos...to win. That is the ultimate betrayal when You spend an awful lot of money to people who are supposed to provide you with a home, proclaim to be in your best interest and then underhandedly display this kind of unspeakable behavior.
Newly tarred driveway, got on my car seat and my book bag, eventually made its way onto my carpet from my book bag accidentally. Apology from staff', no, instead ---- tried to charge me for the tar stain, I fought it and won.
-----, one of the so called friendly staff has 3 restraining orders against tenants because they are so angry with her. She's married to one of the top corporate managers and that's exactly how she gets away with being the big bully that she is. Who's going to fire her' Her husband' She'd probably kill him in his sleep.
One of the neighbors stole some of my things from the common garage. I confronted the neighbor with it in a diplomatic way and told here that those were mine; she called the police. The receipt I had matched the skew nr. on my items and I could prove it was mine. The officer knew it was mine and refused to do anything about it. He let her keep my things and walked away. ----- told me never to call the police and was yelling at me on the phone how it disturbs her peaceful, neighborhood image she's worked so hard to maintain. After all, if on the inside the place is evil, the outside should look good to attract tenants right' I tried to explain to her that I did not call the police, she cut me right off yelling some more and lied to me; said the cop made a report that was sitting on her desk stating that I was confrontational and then she hung up the phone on me. I called the cop about it and he said he never wrote a report. I called ----- and asked why she said that there was a report and she started yelling at me on the phone in her bully, cheesy attitude and then hung up the phone on me like a spoiled rotten child.
My neighbor complained to ----- about the heat situation where it's very hot upstairs and cold downstairs and ----- hung up on her too and told her not to call the office anymore because ----- refuses to speak to her.
---- (all-in-one yes man maintenance guy) thinks he owns the place, even though its your overpriced rent that's keeping him employed. You'll see him driving by on his scooter staring up at the roof tops like he's looking for something that may need serious fix'n. He lies too. Will act sweet, don't trust him.
They hire ex convicts to come in and fix your carpet; this guy was two steps below a Walmart employee. My carpet that I paid for was fraying and they didn't want to spend the money to fix it so they sent the creepy guy in with a very delicate temper. I started asking this guy how he proposed to fix the carpet, he didn't know what he was doing, had no answer, was all confused so he started yelling at me and got right up in my face, almost hit me. ---- said it was my fault. Unbelievable. They stole my entire security deposit and said it was my fault the carpet frayed and I BOUGHT THE CARPET to begin with! They wouldn't put a new one in so I paid for it. A previous smoker lived there, and the carpet was nasty, old, dingy. They lied of course, ---- said there was no smoker in there when the other manager said there was.
---- said I could have a cat in there for no extra charge. She didn't put it in writing. Their clever maneuver was to state that my cat was unauthorized and the cat frayed the carpet. These are burbar carpets installed improperly and thus, they fray where the lines don't meet tightly enough. The corners were cut short from the 2nd group of guys that had to come in and fix it b/c it was going the wrong way, thus more fraying. They couldn't justify keeping my money so they made the story fit their pocket books. They said that it was all my fault. Yes, real friendly staff.
The male managers started playing games with me, threw me a bone here and there to keep my mouth shut and make me think I was going to get my sec. deposit back. They told me that I had to contact their carpet guys if I wanted the carpet fixed and they sent me on a wild goose chase. They gave me phone numbers to call to get the carpet fixed that never panned out and then in the end, took all my money. ----- actually thinks she's so great that she made fun of me when I went to her office to complain about the place not being painted and the dirty spots on the walls. This is the older phase, they don't keep those nice like they do the newer ones. ----- said I was too picky and laughed at me for moving out of my previous apartment that had fungus and mold coming through the vents from the basement, dead animals from the woods trapped in the ceilings, and a major blow-fly infestation, break ins and car thefts galore.
Upon check out, ---- assured me that I would not be charged for the carpet. He flat out lied. When I called to ask where my refund check was, ---- wouldn't tell me, just kept saying, "what's your address'" ---- said to me on the phone, "you didn't think I was going to let you win this one did you'"
After purchasing a new carpet for $1200, and giving up my $1200 security deposit, costing me a total of $2400 now in their pockets, someone else is living there with my new carpet. I even turned the place over to them one month early because they had me believing everything was going to be ok. Real sneaky group of guys right on up to the owner. I called the corp. office to ask where my refund was and their secretary said they refuse to take any more of my calls and that I was no longer allowed on the property. I told the corporate manager that my father was a witness to ---- saying I'd get my money back and he laughed at me and said, oh yeah, like your father is going to stand up in court, ha ha.
I can guarantee that after this review, there will be a mysterious rash of "tenants" disagreeing with me and saying how much they love it there. Hmm, couldn't be the staff could it'
