This place sucks

I have now lived at One City Place for seven months. First of all, the walls are so thin one can hear the neighbors talking on the phone. And, if your neighbor smokes, be prepared to smell it in your bedroom. Our next door neighbor is on the phone at all hours of the day and night yelling and cussing. He smokes and our bedroom smells like an ashtray.

Second, I have never been late in paying my rent. However, this month I had a death in the family and had to go back to my home town in the midwest. I was rather devastated by the death and completely forgot that it was the start of the month. I got home at 1am on the 6th and paid my rent on the 7th. They returned my check and charged me a 10% late fee ($328.00). To me that is beyond obnoxious and rude particularly to someone who pays his rent on time. I had a $1,000,000 mortgage and the late fee was $50.

Third, the place is very cheaply built. We had our blinds fall right out of the ceiling one night. Also, the elevators are always out of order. I have waited up to 5 minutes for an elevator.

For the price they charge for this place, it is flat out not even close to worth it. This place is pitiful.

I had the same problem with the smoke. You can report the issue to the Board of Health. You are entitled to a smoke free environment and it is not your fault that the buildings venting system is poor and defective. Ask the management to move you. They also can place a weather strip at the bottom of your front door and place plastic over some of the shared vents. It is awful. The management can let your neighbor know than the smoke is filtering into your apartment. My problem only ceased after the other tenant moved out. Luckily that was only 6 months. And wait until you get this month???s shared allocation for the gas bill. My fee tripled and so did all other tenants. This place is outrageous.

I hate this building and the management, the fees are Mafia-inspired, and everything is broken all the time. I strongly urge anyone shopping here to look elsewhere, and I strongly urge fellow tenants to unite and demand change.

Management should open up a day care center for all you cry-babies...

You're probably part of the management if you're calling us crybabies for simply wanting reasonable, civil, humane management services. To have the utility bill jacked up $100 a month is ridiculous for anyone. To have paid $600 for broken amenities is ridiculous. To have smoke coming in from other apartments is ridiculous. And to add insult to injury, the management gives away $10,000 in free rent at a party to like 5 people, instead of refunding everyone in the building for the overcharges! People aren't idiots, we know when we're being bamboozled!
