Bad Experience So Far

UPDATE: Since my last update Dannybrook has kept their promise by making repairs to our townhome. The biggest issue that I failed to mention before was that our neighbors smoked cigarettes and this smoke filled our townhouse even with the windows closed. My wife has asthma and it was a huge problem because we couldn't keep our windows open and had to use an air purifier to try to get rid of the smoke that was coming from next door. After multiple complaints, the maintenance team filled our basement walls with insulation to try to prevent any unwanted smells from coming from the tenant next to us. Dannybrook management also said that they would try their hardest to not place a tenant who smokes next to us. Dannybrook management team was friendly and accomodating to us after making several complaints. The manager was very nice and professional. Dannybrook met our expectations thus far and we are both pleasantly surprised when the manager dropped by our place to personally follow up on our complaints. We were also surprised to find a giftcard to Outback Steakhouse. Overall, I would say that our experience with the management team was pleasant with timely results.

UPDATE: The management asked me about the review and is making an effort to accommodate our needs. They stressed that customer service is a big priority. I will be fair and edit the review if our experience improves.

Dannybrook apartments looks like it would be good place to live. But looks can be deceiving, and in this case, they are. First off, these apartments/townhouses are priced high, giving you the impression that you are going to get what you pay for. WRONG!

The buildings are very old, and most have been slightly renovated to appear like they are newer. It looks like they threw on some new doors, some paint, and a cheap carpet.

Let's start with the plumbing. Since these buildings are very old, the plumbing is horrible. Toilets take 2-3 flushes to go down, every time. Sinks get clogged even if you use the garbage disposal. We called the maitainence to fix the clog, and they told us that rice clogged the pipe, and not to use the garbage disposal. The pipes are so small that even rice will clog it.

Next, lets talk about the appliances. They have the cheapest appliances that anyone could find. The dishwasher is horrible. We thought it would be good, because it looks new, but there is food stuck everytime. We end up having to clean the dishes by hand, even after using the dishwasher. The refrigerator broke, so they brought us a new one, and informed us that there were no shelves that came with it. Who buys a refrigerator with no shelves' They even suggested that we go try to buy shelves ourselves...

Lastly, the maintenance people are very rude (with the exception of one). It's almost like they think we work for them. 3 weeks before we moved in, we informed the office that we had a gas dryer and would need a hookup in the basement. They told us that it would be all set up when we move in. They were wrong. We moved in, and there was no hookup. So, we called the office and they sent over a maintenance guy. This guy yelled as us for not giving them enough time before we moved in (we gave them 3 weeks). He also yelled at us for making him look bad in front of his boss (like that was our fault'). Recently, we called maintenance and they told us that we should call them earlier in the day instead of so close to 5 PM. Well, we called them at 3 PM, and we both work, and don't really trust them in our place without us home. But, I guess we need to try to cater to the maintanence, because apparently, we work for them.

Overall, this place looks like it would be nice on the outside. The location is good, the landscaping is nice, and they are freshly painted. But, this place has many problems that would need to be fixed before I would recommend it to anyone.
