It is sad that Timber Top is getting so many negative reviews from people when this complex has so much to offer.
I think that some people must only look at a few apartments here and make a hasty choice, or perhaps they do not take the time to communicate with the office staff.
Plus, they offer a lot of move-in specials throughout the year...awesome.
I have lived here for three years.
I am a college-educated professional, have no criminal background, and expect peaceful, clean living conditions; Timber Top has offered me these.
But I took my time to compare various apartments here in order to be sure I liked what I got.
AMENITIES: Now this is nice--FREE heat, water, sewer, trash!! You can't beat that!! Nice pool area with sundeck.
No fitness center.
Garages available for $30 a month--this is great compared to $60-$80 in most other complexes around here.
Dishwashers, refrigerators, air conditioning, garbage disposals.
Also, you can get garden-style bathtubs in some apartments--I had one of these, it's very big, love it!
LAYOUT: Wow is this complex HUGE!!! Keep this in mind when reading all of these reviews.
It has older apartments, which of course will show signs of wear, and then you have the brand new ones! If you have a need to be easily accessible, then you will have to limit yourself to looking at certain buildings within the complex and avoiding others.
MAINTENANCE: I have had hardly any need for maintenance, really, and every time I HAVE needed them, they were friendly and got the job done in a timely fashion.
Snow plows are always out immediately when it snows.
I see them constantly taking care of the shrubbery and salting sidewalks when it is slippery.
OFFICE STAFF: Love them! I don't care what other reviews say, they are very courteous and take the time to listen if you need them to.
I had a problem with a neighbor, and every time I spoke to the office, they were patient and helpful.
Also, any questions or concerns I have ever had about anything have always been handled in a professional way.
I can't imagine them copping an attitude with tenants, but if they ever have, I bet it was because someone was already being rude to them first!
NOISE: It depends on where you are.
I know that there are college students and also some trashy people that can live here (but you have that risk anywhere in the city), so you have to scope out certain units BEFORE you move in.
Obviously things like trash all over the place next door, left-out beer cans and tacky party lights outside the front door are all dead giveaways.
It's a good idea to just sit in your parked car for a little while and watch the activity around the building to get an idea if yours is a "party house".
Sometimes you can also look at the details on cars and tell whether younger or older people inhabit the place.
Bottom level dwellers and those close to any of the complex's main roads should expect to hear some traffic.
Otherwise, outside noise is minimal.
I lived up at the top of the complex and did not hear any kids, babies crying, or loud music from outside.
VARIETY OF APARTMENTS: I don't know where to begin here.
You can choose from SO many styles, from lofts with gorgeous cathedral ceilings to single-floor styles, to apartments with tile flooring (even beautiful mirrored walls, which I discovered in one building recently!).
Ask the office for a whole bunch of apartments to view, you will see what I mean by variety in the layout and lighting!
I hope this helps you get a more realistic view of Timber Top.
The staff really does a fantastic job, especially when you consider the hundreds of tenants they deal with and the size of the complex.
If you seek value and affordability within a pretty area, give them a visit, communicate your needs to the office staff, and most likely you can find something here that suits you!

You were lucky with your neigbors. I had great neighbors when I moved in, but they all moved. Then I had some really bad neighbors. But they moved a few weeks before I moved out. go figure

I think the manager of the complex just copied that from their ads. THey sound really passionate about this hell hole. Live here if you like people in and out of your apartment w/o proper notification!! Rude as hell!!!

You've got to be kidding me. I'm expected to believe that an actual tennant wrote this? This is written more like a scholarly literature review than an apartment review. I find it interesting that this individual "recently found" a mirrored wall... is this individual looking through all of the apartments even though he/she has lived in one for three years? Perhaps if the staff was more concerned with the conditions at Timbertop, and less concerned with writting elaborate reviews on apartmentratings.com, we could actually find a percentage higher than 38% as a recommendation for moving into this place. I'm not saying that all of the above information is false (though some definitely is) I'm just saying that no tennant wrote this. I've lived here between mid-2004 and the current date.

I guess the combination of a 34% approval rating here and their 14% approval rating at the other big review site have called for drastic actions by management. They've now resorted to posting FAKE reviews to try to get their scores up. If you want the real skinny on Timber Top just check out timbertopapartmentsinakron.com

The women two doors down from us was murdered. I saw three guys beating up a kid in the parking lot. Car broken in to twice. Scary people sitting in cars watching our apartment with engine running and no plates.

I hate when anonymous posters say that everyone is Management if they give it a good or even decent review. Did you ever think some people may never have had a bad experience and therefore because of that they actually rate the place fairly based on their own experience, instead of reputation because you and some people have had bad experiences? Maybe the anonymous repliers are managment of a competing place - that's more likely than the posters who rate fairly. However, I do believe you and others have had bad neighbors, and I understand you wanting to complain about the place for that. About the murders and beatings, maybe back it up with a report and I'll believe - it is sad if it is true.
So maybe just I and the others who gave it a good review never had bad neighbors or other problems and were just the 10% of ones who bothered to rate, while 80% of the people with bad experiences found a place to voice thier problems. That would explain why Timber Top does not come highly reccomended - because (in my experience - can't speak for others) it is such a great place and a great value, as this review stated.
