Great apartments, big drawbacks.

The apartments themselves are great. Really big, interesting layouts, with awesome crown molding and French doors (and other features new buildings don't have). If I could extract my apartment from the building and move it elsewhere, I'd love it. But I don't. Here's why:
-It's loud here. Really loud. There's constant traffic noises/ambulance sirens/leaf blower/construction sounds on one side and drunk people yelling in the courtyards all around. I've sat and watched many drunken arguments around the building, many ending in the cops being called. But it's not just angry drunken yelling you'll hear. People party in the common areas between buildings until the wee hours of the morning. And then leave BBQ grills, chairs, condiments, beer bottles -- you name it -- littering the grass.
-The electrical work needs to be updated. Big time. Don't expect to run your window A/C unit while watching TV and using your computer unless you want to go down to the basement to flip your breaker switch every 15 minutes. Literally.
-The courtyard entrances are really pretty, but unless you want to hike all the way from the parking lot, around the building, and into the courtyard, you'll probably never walk through them.
-The pet "policy" is a joke. You used to be allowed dogs, but apparently aren't anymore. Despite that "rule", many people still have dogs (including people who have moved into the building since the rule change). I wouldn't have a problem with this if the apartments didn't have paper thin walls that allow you to hear dogs barking and scratching.
-The plumbing. Leaks, floods, water damage galore.
-I'm pretty sure my ceiling might cave in at any minute.
-The laundry machines steal your money and there are only two washers and two dryers for the entire building (not NEARLY enough). And they're so old, they hardly even clean your clothes.
-While it sounds like a great deal to have free heat -- there's a huge catch. They don't turn it on until November. Even if it's 40 degrees outside before then. And, if I'm not mistaken, that's actually illegal.
-The maintenance men who linger around the building (I swear they don't actually work) are creepy. Really creepy.
-Unless you live on the top floor, you're going to hear every movement of the people above you. The floors are super creaky and it seems there's no sound insulation whatsoever.
To sum things up, if you generally keep to yourself and you're partially deaf and don't do a lot of laundry -- this place would make you really happy.
