Because of maintenance, I have to say NO!

As far as location and the community I never had a problem. It is in a VERY convenient location. The apartments are large and priced well. It was the only place we could find in Akron that wasnt a.) Ghetto b.) White Trash or c.) Too much money, however I have to say no for the following reasons:

When we moved in the provided washer and dryer, which was probably 15 years old, was broken. We immediately reported it. They sent a man (who I would later find out cant fix ANYTHING) out to fix it. He looked and said he needed parts and it would be 2 or 3 days. Well, 2 weeks went by without an operable washing machine. We called again and they said they were sorry. The same guy comes, with the parts. He realizes that there is something else wrong with it and its something he cannot fix and they have to call a professional. Fine. Another 2 weeks (1 MONTH) without a washing machine. We call again. They say THEY NEVER EVEN KNEW they should call anyone. So they say they will. Another 2 weeks (now 1 1/2 months). Finally the professional comes and he fixes it.

In October they paint our front door. Their note says "we will do it on X date, the door must be left open to dry so if you want to be home at this time, be home on X date." X date comes and they do not paint the door. 3 weeks later they do and I come home to my front door wide open with no one even around my house. For a while I thought some one broke in and almost called the police, but then realized that it was because they had painted 3 weeks after they had told me to stay home, without any notice of the NEW paint date.

Winter rolls around. The first day its cold I try to turn on the heat.... doesnt work. They send out the SAME maintenance man from before. He goes over to the thermostat, turns the heat ON and then on full blast and walks over to our heating unit with a BLO TORCH (this is GAS HEAT by the way)! He cant get it lit (and luckily we didnt blow up). He comes back with the other guy on duty the same day. He shows the guy what he tried and the guy freaks out and tells him to NEVER do that again. Both the numskulls cant get it to work, so again they have to call a professional. AGAIN it takes 2 weeks to get one. The professional fixes it.

While the HVAC professional was at our home to fix the heat, he asks me if anything was ever wrong with our AC. I say yes, it actually leaked enough water to fill a 2-gallon bucket in 24 hours (which didnt really bother me and I didnt realize was important). He tells me that the AC unit is in the wrong "casing" (whatever that means). He says that this is a severe issue and will ruin the entire heating and cooling unit if its not fixed, which would costs thousands of dollars for the complex. He says he will tell the apartment complex and if they didnt want it fixed now, he would come back in the spring to correct it. I reminded them THREE times since spring that the man said it was serious and would destroy their entire heating and cooling unit and they have yet to do anything well into July... thats their loss I guess.

The same original maintenance guy comes (AGAIN) in spring for maintenance checks. I inform him that my dishwasher is now broken. It had actually been broken for 2 months but I didnt even want to bother with them. He says he cant fix it now. He comes back in 1 week. He then tells me that is isnt broken and that I just am using it wrong (') and need to do something differently to use it. Yeah, hes an idiot, its still broken and at this point I do not even care.

Our lease was up June 30th. We are staying one extra month because we are moving out of the city soon. When the lease was up we got tons of phone calls and letters saying we HAD to resign the lease. When we finally went in they wanted to raise our rent $40 to include a flat rate for water. Ok, maybe I am stupid but I have never had a $40 water bill in my life. We tried to negotiate and talk to them since we were only staying the one month and they say oh, if you are only staying one month it will be an additional $175 cause you will be on month to month. We say its one stinking month, we know that for CERTAIN but they wouldnt even discuss it saying we had to call corporate. I didnt deal with that mess, thats my husbands job, but I just know he was NOT happy about it and dealt with them for weeks. In the end corporate did nothing and the stupid leasing office kept calling and asking if we would resign the lease once a week even though when we were in their originally we made it CLEAR we were only staying one more month.

After that book, again it was a nice place to live, in a nice area, with a decent original rent rate but only live here if you can disregard all the crap with maintenance. Maybe you will get lucky and have to never see them, but because it REALLY was THAT bad, I just cannot recommend this place.
